So far so good (make it great)

When I got my Breville Bambino espresso maker I realized I needed a good grinder to make it right. I looked on YouTube, saw the reviews and decided on the Breville coffee grinder. I was very pleased! I have the ability to make adjustments to my specifications to grind for how long and how coarse or fine. For grinding the exact amount of espresso from 2 or 1 espresso. The car is small compared to some and the price was very reasonable.

Designed for the kitchen and dining room

This is a fantastic grinder for up to a year of use. Then a part of the machine wears out and all precise grinding functions become useless. Breville does not sell replacement parts to solve this problem and if you google the 820, 800 or 600 series hundreds of people will report that this problem exists for all models of this grinder. If you're looking to spend $200 a year on a grinder, this is the option for you. We bought these several times as gifts for family before we found out about the…

Bottom grinder disconnected after 2 months

Very impressed with the grinder at first; even grinding for both coarse and fine grinding. However, after two months of daily use, the bottom burr has come loose from the burr and there is no 'easy fix'. Refitting the lower millstone requires disassembly of virtually the entire machine and the gearbox must be reassembled with six ball bearings and six springs (not an easy task, made more difficult without Breville's assembly instructions, which I'm sure they don't have). not provided for…

Good meat grinder with many functions, but.

Very good coffee grinder, but after about a year I hesitated before buying due to impeller wear problems. I bought it anyway because of the price, the versatility, and because it fits my Breville Infuser espresso machine. Looks like they improved the impeller. It's not all metal, but the plastic impeller blades are now almost completely covered by a metal screen. Only time will tell if this is the solution to premature wheel wear. It has a consistent grind for the most part, but sounds like it…

Two grinders self-destructed within a few days

When I first tried to finely grind with a bottomless portafilter, this grinder jammed and the internal gear broke. I sent it back as defective. The second grinder did EXACTLY the same thing. This grinder seems to work fine unless you're grinding lightly roasted beans towards the bottom of the grind scale, in which case it will self-destruct. You would expect a grinder set to "2" to work properly at this setting. The frayed internal gear is made of soft plastic and cannot be replaced. If this…

Nylon impeller wears out, no Breville parts available

When it works it's great BUT: Breville uses a cheap plastic impeller that wears out. The impeller pushes the coffee out after grinding. If the impeller is not working, the coffee beans cannot fall into the grinders. Apparently this happened a few years ago. I bought mine in December 2015. This problem first appeared on the BCG820 but also occurs on other models such as the BCG400SIL, BCG600SIL and BCG800XL. The BCG820 has a metal "armor" that simply covers the impeller, but underneath is just a

Brevelle has the WORST customer service on the market

After much research I took the plunge and paid more for the grinder than I ever thought possible. The product arrived and I was very happy with the quality and how it sits nicely on the counter. The instructions don't give enough details on how to use the grinder as I really want to understand the numerous settings. I've been trying to contact support for five days. What a nightmare! Endless loops you then just disconnect and hang up, offer to call me back but then the voice prompts just go…

Important to know - Ignore some of the bad reviews

There are many bad reviews here about the coffee grinder getting stuck or stopping and some even mentioning a burning smell. This problem is easy to work around. In summary, this is a really excellent entry-level coffee grinder with one major drawback that's easy to overcome. I'm going to talk about what makes this grinder great in a moment, but first one thing you MUST KNOW if you're going to buy this grinder. If the grinder slows down or stops grinding before the cycle is complete, STOP THE…
