Very excited to add this to my collection of tools!

I received this as a birthday present on 12/23/20 from my wife. Put it straight to work and am very happy with it thus far. Plenty of power for the wood working project, a carving mallet made from a scrap piece of pressure treated 4"×4" pine, I did. Easy set to set up and start using. Will be buying a HUGE assortment of belts and discs as I can see this will see a lot of use.

Pros
  • Easily portable for on-the-go sanding needs
Cons
  • The sanding belt can slip off the pulley if it is not installed correctly, which can be frustrating to deal with

Its a stable, powerful, easy to use and worth the money tool!

First time I read reviews about this tool I moved on and kept searching. However Ikept coming back to it and I realized a lot of the bad reviews werent really all that bad and most were over little things. So I decided to buy it and from day 1 I was impressed. Ive owned a lot of tools in my days and I also tried to stay away from the cheap crap because I didnt have time to be fixing bad tools all the time. Once again I bought me a winner and Im very pleased with it. The sander has weight to it…

Pros
  • Powerful motor for superior sanding capacity
Cons
  • The BD4801 is not very versatile, which means that it might not be suitable for all types of woodworking projects

Customer service difficult to access

This is solid machine for money. I’ve only used for short time but so far so good. Minimal assembly required but was missing one toggle screw for the table tilt bracket. The company’s advertised email and phone number failed to get a response so I went through revain to get to the company. They promised to send parts; three weeks later no parts. Buyer beware!I'm updating this review because one day later the needed part arrived. They sent one of the parts correctly but instead of a small screw…

Pros
  • PROFESSIONAL DESING: Combining decades of woodworking experience, we have created a machine that is more suitable for users. 2 work tables for both disc and belt, 2 dust ports allows a dustfree operation when connecting with a dust collector, and sturdy cast aluminum base with rubber foot prevents vibrations
Cons
  • The BD4801 is quite bulky, which means that you'll need to have a dedicated workspace in order to use it

High Quality Tool - Love it

This is a very high quality tool, I love it the second I open up the box, easy to setup, powerful, smooth, it is perfect in every way. Even I am a tool nut, I managed to injured myself in the first 15 minutes of using this tool, totally my fault. I primarily use the belt sander portion of the tool for sharpen ax, tools, knives, etc. and while I sharpened an ax, the thumb on my left hand, touched the 80 grit disc at 3400 RPM, well needless to say, it did not take long to remove a chunk of flesh…

Pros
  • Solid quality built equipment. Has good power.
Cons
  • The dust collection system on this product is not the most efficient, so you'll need to be prepared for a lot of mess

Great product, but POOR, ie NO, customer service!

Overall, the product is just fine, with one exception: While squaring up the table to the belt, I noticed it tilted side to side, and I couldn't get it level. When I took it off, the bracket attached to the underside of the table was out of square, and I noticed one of the legs was cracked. My main gripe is that I have attempted to reach out to their service email, twice, and have yet to receive any response to my problem. It has been over a week and I am still awaiting a response.

Pros
  • Para la carpintería en general
Cons
  • You'll need to be careful when you're changing the sandpaper on the BD4801, as the process can be quite fiddly

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Direct drive the only way to go!

The product was well packaged, the instructions were available online in addition to in the box. The relatively small typeface of the manual made printing the online manual necessary for my poor eyesight. The ability to quickly change the belt was the principal reason for selecting this product and my expectations were fully met. I was working on a project which required starting with 50 gr, then moving successively to 80, 120, 400, 600, and 1000 gr. These transitions occurred about every 10-15

Pros
  • Power & Hand Tools
Cons
  • The BD4801 can be quite noisy, which could be a problem if you work in an area with noise restrictions

BEST BENCH-TOP SANDING SYSTEM AVAILABLE!

BUY THIS SANDER!I don’t know what the hell "Sheerness” or "Thickness " have to do with a review, but that aside. This is the BEST BENCH-TOP SANDING SYSTEM AVAILABLE!The others from the Inexpensive WEN up to the high-end brands that are all built around the same crappy belt-driven system can’t compare to the Bucktool Sander. The only things that I’m not crazy about are the way the rotating table and other brackets function. They fell a little behind in that, but easy to overcome.

Pros
  • Great power. I love the 8 inch disc.
Cons
  • The on/off switch is placed in a slightly awkward position, which means that you'll need to reach around the machine to turn it on and off

Good belt sander! on my review.

Very sturdy and well built. A bit heavy, but that is a plus if you do not mount it to a bench as it’s less likely to move around while sanding. Be careful. I cut my gloves and slightly cut skin when using belt side when I accidentally touched the rotating disc portion. One motor spins both belt and disc at same time. Only criticism is the plastic on the dust collector is kinda thin and brittle. it separated at a joint and I had to duct tape it together.

Pros
  • Very nice
Cons
  • The BD4801 is not very portable, so you won't be able to move it between workspaces easily

Decent value (Photos)

Things of Note:1.) MADE IN CHINA2.) Most of this is metal of some sort, Aluminum, cast iron.3.) Can be mounted on table or bench4.) You will need to calibrate and potentially replace some parts of accessories to make them really usableI have added a number of photos for reference. I have not used this extensively so this review is an initial review with some small usage. I have mounted this to a board for portability and stability. For the price it has so far performed as a value for the small…

Pros
  • Works well looks like other manufacturers models but at a slightly cheeper cost
Cons
  • The BD4801 produces a lot of noise, so it might not be very suitable for use in a shared workspace

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Pretty great for a small shop

I use mine just about everyday in my shop. Reliable, sturdy, well put together. Only drawback is the vacuum connection basically being unusable because of the angle

Pros
  • FLEXIBLE BELT: This belt of the benchtop belt sander is 4x36-inch and 80-grit, and it can be placed horizontally or vertically to meet various needs, the cast aluminum worktable can be tilted 0-45 degrees, this makes this machine better suitable for all kinds of woodworking jobs
Cons
  • The instructions that come with the product are not very clear, so you might need to do some research online to figure out how to use it properly

Great buy. Powerful and well-built.

Well built, sturdy, powerful, not quiet but normal noise level for a belt sander, well-balanced right out of the box, securely packaged, easy to assemble, I only wish Bucktool offered more tools to buy and built to the same standards as this one.I made my own bracket to hold up the dust collection port that comes with the sander and ditched the safety guard cause it obstructs me from sanding longer pieces. Be careful if you do this cause you can easily take the skin off your fingers. The belt…

Pros
  • STABLE DISC: The diameter of the disk is 8-inch, a heavy steel cover is added to prevent the disc from shaking. There is a miter gauge appliable for fixing the angle of the wood, and the cast aluminum work table also can be adjusted
Cons
  • The sanding belt can get quite hot during use, which means that you'll need to be careful not to burn yourself

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Nice little tool good for me

No matter how well you adjust the belt it wants to shift on its carrier. Doesn’t matter how soft or how hard you press while sanding. It stays perfect if left alone runnng.

Pros
  • MAINTENANCE FREE: This sander use no belt, no gear, so you don't have to adjust the cog belt tension, change damage cog belt like before, but if you want to sharpen metal, change the sanding belt/disc then you will be good to go
Cons
  • This product is quite heavy, which means that it might not be suitable for people with mobility issues

This is heavy, well engineered, and powerful. I’ve pushed this machine hard and removed material quickly with no bogging down. It is quiet enough to use in the garage late at night. The shop vac hookup works well with my 6 gallon Craftsman. There are no plastic parts to fail prematurely. This will be handed down to my kids or grandkids.

Pros
  • Combination of belt and disc sander increases versatility
Cons
  • The switch feels a little flimsy, which means that it might break after prolonged use

Great metal shop tool.

I am very pleased with this belt sander. At first wasn't sure if it was going to stand up to the type of work I would use it for. I only use it for metal prepping, cleaning, grinding for welding. I use it to sharpen my tungsten TIG rods. It does a phenomenal job at all those and is fairly quite too. Also it is a direct drive and no need to replace belts or belt slippage.Very Happy with my purchase.

Pros
  • Tools & Home Improvement
Cons
  • The sanding disc can be quite difficult to clean, which might be a hassle for some users

Revainrating 4 out of 5

So far so good - my new review

I only used this tool for one project so far but it performed well. I was working with oak and I only noticed is slow down just a little bit once. I think I might have been pushing too hard and not letting the machine do the work. I can't comment on quality just yet since I just got it. I will say it's a mix between sturdy and none sturdy material. As you know you get what you pay for but if you want all cast steel its like you have to spend over $800. There is a huge price gap in good quality…

Pros
  • Low vibration for comfortable use over extended periods
Cons
  • The BD4801 is quite expensive compared to other similar products on the market

Women love wood working also.

I really like this sander that my husband bought me for my birthday. But when I went on revain and read about it and they made it sound like only they only cater to men it had me a little beside myself. In my family it is the females that do the wood working. So may be they should rethink there wording. Because if I would of been reading that before it was bought I wouldn't have gotten it. Women love to build stuff also. So far I have built a cat purch and I am in the middle of building a gun…

Pros
  • Combination Disc & Belt Sanders
Cons
  • The BD4801 is not suitable for sanding metal, so you'll need a separate tool if you want to work on metal projects

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Worth the money if you can live with quirks

I needed a combo sander for a specific wood project. I bought the 8" because there was a coupon at the time that made it a touch more expensive than the 6" model. It was well packaged and easy to assemble. But the tables aren't even close. The table for the belt is bent by several degrees down when looking at the belt in its vertical position. The table was adjusted so it was perpendicular to the belt face. This doesn't obviously affect function but it looks bad. The table for the disc has a…

Pros
  • Excellent addition to any workshop or DIY enthusiast's tool collection
Cons
  • The dust collection system can be quite loud, which might be a problem if you work in a shared space

Solid sander for the money

I was going to order a basic sander from Harbor Freight just to get a small project done. Then I took a quick look at this one from Buck and I’m glad I did. The difference in quality far outweighs the difference in cost. This is not a high priced, high-end tool but it has a great build with direct drive, stable platforms, and convenient adjustments that make it feel high-end. Banging out my project was a breeze. Now I need to find more reasons to use this new tool.

Pros
  • Affordable price point for a high-quality product
Cons
  • The machine is not very beginner-friendly, which means that you might need to spend some time learning how to use it properly

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Excellent value, upgraded version

I did a ton of research before purchasing. Looking to get into entry level knife making. I had been looking in the wrong place. I was looking for a 2x42 and they are either affordable, but seriously underpowered, or way out of my budget.I just happened to broaden my search when I found this. Much more power then the 1/3hp 2x42 and a large disk. Some reviews said the disk was very bent. I looked into the company and they corrected the issue by adding a steel plate for shipping only. That's…

Pros
  • Effective dust collection system for a cleaner workspace
Cons
  • The machine can vibrate quite a bit during use, which could be a problem for people with sensitive hands

Revainrating 4 out of 5

solid motor and belt/drive, but not precise enough for small parts

In general this is a much more solid belt/disc sander than other units in its price range. If you are considering a Ryobi or the like, it is worth the upgrade to get a more powerful motor and more solid chassis. Belt changes aren't too onerous, and the unit is well made. The company seems to be quite good with support as well. However, the various accessories are pretty much useless if you need accuracy. The Miter slides in the miter track loosely. There is at least 1.5mm of play between the…

Pros
  • Includes safety features for accident prevention
Cons
  • The machine can create a lot of dust, which might be a problem if you have respiratory issues
