A guide was not tightened on the ruler. The problem is that the sleeve has been molded too high into the guide's plastic body, or the hole is too big for that mold. The width of the ruler varied within 0.005 from the ends to the middle. The sockets are wrong, the holes are conical. The company stands behind their product, I received a quick refund.

This is a good design but the downside is they only have one screw to tighten the side which gives you a 90 degree right angle. For that reason it's not a true 90, just a little off, but if you have two buttons next to each other, one slightly one way and the other slightly the other way, it's noticeable. The dimensions are also slightly different.

I am a professional installer and had the most expensive and cheapest I have found this to be the best deal in bright red easy to find. all aluminum except for the sliders which are very precise unless you have OCD. At this price you can afford to buy multiple devices if you need to install different types of devices or if you have doors and drawers to install devices you don't need to recalibrate.

I used this item for the first time today and only had problems. The threaded bolts that secure the sliders are striped straight out of the box. The vertical ruler is offset by an eighth of an inch. For an accurate gauge, this is a big problem. Finally, the top bar doesn't slide across the vertical ruler as easily as others I've had. I literally had to force it. Great look and idea but the worst quality I can imagine. I bought it in February, received it fairly quickly but due to COVID the jobs I expected it for were delayed. So I've used it recently and haven't even drilled a handle. it moved and didn't stay accurate, I ended up trying to tighten the set screws and they just broke. Thank goodness I didn't use it on the door without testing it first. I want to try to get my money back and then look for a better one.

This tool is worth the money when you are installing drawer and door handles. The distance between the holes can be easily adjusted. The problem I had was that the drawer mount wasn't completely vertical. It was probably offset a few degrees, rendering the item almost useless unless you straightened it and held it with one hand.
