Dangerous/Faulty Micro USB Connector

The dangerous Micro USB connector sparked and melted. When I first charged the phone this way, the micro USB port overheated and started smoking. It was in a camper van, luckily the friend was asleep and the smoke woke him up and stopped him before a full fire broke out. When it was disconnected from the phone, it caught fire, suggesting a short circuit had occurred. In addition to damaging the cable the first time it was used, it also damaged the phone's charging port, which is beyond repair…

Drains power, won't turn off power bank

First of all, I tried using the manufacturer's product support chat. and that is a big waste of time. This cable consumes electricity. After the phone is charged, it keeps discharging my large power bank overnight. When the phone is disconnected from the cable, you cannot turn off the power. Charging through this cable is quite slow even when using the 18W wall charger or the fast charge port on my power bank. None of the many devices and cable options I use with my power supply have these…

Sturdy cable with good shielding

Unlike the cheaper plastic coated cables I've tried, this cable has a tough, reinforced outer coating. This makes the cable stiffer than others, but less likely to bend too much and break the internal wiring. I bought this cable to use with a standalone USB-C audio DAC. Again, DAC adapters were made with a cheap plastic housing, which meant the cable section would bend too much and break the internal wiring, resulting in an audio channel going dead or intermittently. Another benefit of this…

USB-C connector too narrow for MacBook Pro (2018)

One of the main advantages of USB-C is its compatibility with Thunderbolt 3 (it's the same connector). Unfortunately, when I insert the USB-C connector into my MacBook Pro, you have to push it a little. The worst thing about this cable, however, is that you actually have to pull on it to disconnect. I can see it's only a matter of time before that little metal connector falls apart and gets stuck in the Thunderbolt 3 connector. One of the key design features of Thunderbolt 3 and USB-C is that…

Excellent quality so far.

Quality packaging similar to Kevlar. I'm using it with a MacBook specifically to power a Dual Shock 4 controller for use with the Sony Playstation Remote Play app. To use Remote Play, you must connect the Double Impact Controller via a USB cable (no Bluetooth support for Remote Play). It works great, which is a good thing given Sony's dual-impact controllers are picky about microUSB cables. I also use this cable in combination with a tiny Apple Lightning to MicroUSB adapter to charge IOS…

but it's not OTG compatible/compatible (assuming it doesn't say OTG so it's my fault for not reading it). I got it for my Fiio Q1 Mark II DAC to use my Android phone. When I first got it I had a Google Pixel 4 XL, it worked great with it, the pixel seemed to know what it was and what to do with it, but then I recently bought a Samsung Galaxy S20 and it worked not it at all, it just kept grabbing the host and not registering itself as an audio device, just trying to charge it and saying that…

DO NOT BUY if using a PS4 controller for PC gaming

I have a 2019 16" MacBook Pro running Bootcamp and the only ports it has are a headphone jack and 4 USB ports - C. I wanted to be able to play a PC game with my PS4 controller like I did with my old 2015 MacBook Pro (which accepted regular USB) but since my old USB to micro USB cable didn't work , I decided to buy this USB -C-Micro-USB cable instead of using an adapter. It doesn't work. While the cable itself is solid and snug, it doesn't actually connect unless you hold the cable at a vertical

Requires USB 2.0 adapter to transfer data to Pixel Poi

I am connecting the USB-C side to my laptop, which only has USB-C ports (it's an HP Spectre) and micro- USB with my Ignis Pixel poi. The cable charges my pixel poi from my laptop - no problem. The problem arose when trying to transfer data from my laptop to my pixel poi. My laptop did not recognize that I connected a device. Luckily I also bought a USB-C to USB 2.0 adapter (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B082MDGRZ6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). I had to plug the whole…

Great "adapter " cables for moving older devices to the USB-C wave

There aren't many well-known brands making USB-C to MicroUSB cables today, but I'm glad that CableMatters is one of them. As the USB-C interface gradually becomes mainstream, all other connectors (USB-A, USB-B, etc.) are expected to become obsolete very soon. Many of you, like me, will be stuck with three different types of cords/chargers in your homes during this "transition period”. We have a newer Macbook with a USB-C port, a Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge with older Mirco USB ports and these
