simplifies fan replacement

Using putty makes the installation clean as the screw holes may not line up, which is good. Once you've removed the roof debris from the previous fan, set the new fan in position and mark where it will be. Remove the fan and stick putty directly into the marks covering the old holes. Install the fan and secure with new screws. If you then apply Dicor self-leveling sealant to the new screws and edges of the front panel, you will have a clean install.

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Some small things

Ideal for installing roof vents

I bought putty and used it to install an overhead vent on a cargo trailer/RV. I used this between the vent flange and the roof. That was enough for 1 breath, and there are many more left. Use putty for fiberglass and metal roofs, buttle for rubber roofs. Be careful not to order the wrong one. After installing the roof vent, I overlapped the flange edges and bolt heads with Dicor sealant, using up nearly the entire tube of sealant. I haven't had any leaks.

Best Butyl Tape Roof Leak Protection

There was moisture in our RV. It turned out there was a section of roof along the skin that needed caulking. I bought this material, cleaned the spot and taped it (it sticks really well so make sure you're willing to leave it where you put it). It has withstood the scorching desert sun, cold northern weather and a tornado alley storm across the US. Now I make sure we have something on hand in case we get a branch or need a quick touch up on some weathered areas of our roof. I would recommend…

Great way to apply putty to seal joints

I've done a lot of old school plumbing so I'm no stranger to twisting a strip of putty. However, this putty completely changed my relationship with this putty jar! Putty is applied in a strip of uniform width and thickness, making it ideal for installing exhaust fans, windows and anything that goes through something like a roof or wall that you don't want to leak through. I have used it on body patches on my old RV, on the flanges of new roof vents, around vent pipes etc etc etc. I've used it…

Works great, beats using sealant and putty!

Works great! It's better than using caulk or putty and doesn't have to deal with the mess. I used it when I replaced the water heater in my RV. The "tape" was enough to go around a small hole on the outside of the RV. As an added bonus, the kit also includes 20 1" self-tapping screws. I didn't have to use any screws, I just reused the original ones. After installation, the tape is very sticky but easy to work with. The tape holds tight and creates an excellent watertight seal. The finished…

  • Easy to use

  • I don't have much to complain about, everything is fine

Terrible! It's dry and useless. Waste of money

This putty from the Camco installation kit is terrible. It's thin and dry. Totally useless. A few months ago we made the mistake of buying two of these kits as we were preparing to upgrade our RV including replacing some air vents, skylights and exterior marker lights with LEDs. , which we had to postpone by a few months due to this pandemic. When we opened one of these packages this month we immediately noticed how dry and flimsy it was compared to another brand we used from our local RV/RV…
