The product does not match the description, poor quality.

Do not buy this lens. Of course, the 50mm f1.8 is even worse in quality, but its price is much more pleasant and the design is stronger, and if you choose a good copy, you will be pleased. 50 f1.4 has a drawback - if you accidentally press on the front retractable part, or at least hit it lightly, the guide bends there, the focus starts to play and autofocus accuracy is lost (and not too accurate in the Canon system anyway). I tested 1.8, on it the entire lower part of the picture was blurred…

Pros
  • Specifications, photo tests on different sites.
Cons
  • Not working 1.4, flimsy design.

Beyond praise! The product definitely deserves your attention.

Several months of operation have shown that AF in this glass works without problems, for the description of which more than one keyboard has been erased. In my copy there is a slight back focus on the open. Easy to correct in five-two. I don’t use manual focusing, I wrapped the focusing ring with electrical tape, now you can confidently hold on. Some pros: Lightweight, compact, recessed front lens, fast focusing. Good assembly despite all his kicks. An open aperture is working, giving a…

What a horrible quality, wasted money for nothing.

If Canon considers it possible for its reputation to continue to sell a weak, unreliable lens, it would be worthwhile to warn buyers before buying this lens that it requires extra care, as even slight pressure on the external part leads to breakage. All this I write solely for one purpose, to warn those who choose not to choose this lens (and maybe the manufacturer too).

Pros
  • I bought this lens on the recommendation and reading reviews. Liked the picture.
Cons
  • Wouldn't recommend. A flimsy lens, thrown out money that cannot be returned, even if the purchase was from an authorized dealer. It's a shame, because a lot more was bought for this lens. Contact with the official representative of Canon is not constructive. Telephone counselors are not helpful. People in whose competence to solve the problem get off with unsubscribes by e-mail.

The item is average, not sure if it's worth the money.

Great all-rounder for beginners. I tried both on crop and on FF - for a full frame it is much more pleasant to drive. 1 year experience. Got pros: There is almost no chromaticity, little things can be finalized in 2 minutes in the editor. Nice blur, no onion rings. A dark room and the evening time of the day draws out well. There are no complaints about the distortion of space either. Portrait, city, walks, studio - copes well. Plastic could be attributed to a minus, but it is very light and…

The quality is top notch, be sure to try it.

People who post on this forum and say that they require a maximum aperture are beyond my comprehension. Even in total darkness, if you are working with candles or doing something else, you can open the aperture. They often move slowly, but there are a variety of perspectives available for reporting. This piece of glass is intended solely for artistic expression; although the 1.2 version is prohibitively pricey, this one won't break the bank. Do you think the design is poor? I have no idea; I…

Pros
  • Normal photo. You must be able to concentrate on the task at hand. First I take the picture, and then I work on it in post-production. When the sun is out, the number 2.8 is not difficult on the eyes.
Cons
  • Although I shot from 7 meters in the studio, sometimes I washed out the eye area, and sometimes I didn't; it seems to depend entirely on luck, as you won't be able to see the effect on the screen; you can only see it when you get the print at home. Sometimes it smears, but I usually shoot a whole series of them. You need to focus on the eyes or expose other places. This is a portrait, and you need to shoot from close range.

I am delighted, the product is really worthy.

Acquired in the spring of 2022. I use and understand - a real "portrait" with its inherent "fixes" properties: it lathers beautifully, autofocus is at the proper level. Pleasant buzz of the ultrasonic motor. Compact - you can carry it everywhere with you like a regular one. F / 1.4 allows you to take high-quality pictures even at dusk (especially if you take control and set the settings yourself, in particular, so that the ISO does not automatically go up). The lens is definitely from the…

I'm very happy, it really is worth buying.

Has some pros aperture-wow! I bought it, but unfortunately I don’t use it to its full potential - for now I’m waiting for the summer to shoot portraits in nature. Has cons: it doesn’t always focus where you want . so only in calm shooting conditions are good shots.

One of the best offers, glad I bought it.

Still, it is worth buying lenses for the camera from its own manufacturer. Very high quality glass, for art shooting, not hasty and not vain. Good colors and clarity. I read reviews here that they say it’s not clear at 1.4))) People read about the exposure, find out what the depth of field is, then write and criticize, I don’t think that those who don’t like this glass will like 1.2))) They also write that the design is flimsy, no, it’s not flimsy, it’s just plastic. All cars have plastic…

Pros
  • The design is a four, looks and feels many times better than 1.8. Color reproduction and transparency of glasses is better than 1.8 Blur quality is better than 1.8, even 1.8) Quiet focus.
Cons
  • No hood included Often without catching focus, it focuses to infinity.

Excellent quality, absolutely not expected for such a price.

The glass is cool - time-tested. For amateur-class DSLRs - what you need. I bought myself a Canon 550D to replace a kit lens. Particularly for portrait photography. Very satisfied. Everyone should have this lens! Some pros: The lens is very sharp and bright. Fast and accurate focusing. Very nice bokeh. For portraits and more! The lens pushes for creativity! This is not your mind. With "fifty kopecks" you need to "run" a lot with your feet and that's good! Its cons: As for the cons, of course…

A good product at a good price, I advise you to try it.

This fifty dollars is probably ideal if this is your first lens. For little money you get an excellent high-aperture fix, which is able to shoot both a portrait, and a landscape, and a moderate macro. But after a while you begin to understand that the "universality" of the 50 mm focal length is a double-edged sword. After using lenses with a focal length of 85 or more, you understand that your fifty dollars is not suitable for portraits - there is too much distortion. After using wider-angle…

Pros
  • Aperture, affordable price, bokeh, color reproduction. This is generally a very "beautiful" lens.
Cons
  • "Universal" focal length, very soft sharpness at aperture less than 2.2. Specifically, my copy has back focus. It broke twice, and both times due to "deformation of the focusing ring."

Revainrating 3 out of 5

It functions perfectly, nothing unusual.

There is a difference between the 50 1.8 that I used before he came along. Stunning blending effects and great drawing. Mistakes in front and back focus are distinct depending on the conditions of the photograph; fortunately, the Canon 50D corrects for these variations. While switching from auto focus to manual focus, the plastic body even makes a crunching sound, which is not a very pleasant experience. The quickness of focusing is adequate, but it may be better. The USM team is not the…

Pros
  • Aperture\sUSM\sbokeh
Cons
  • Case made of plastic A very slight amount of play in the focus ring

An ideal product for any type of consumer.

Good working glass. On 5dmk2 behaves excellently. For portraits on FF, 85mm behaves better in geometry. Perfect glass for crop. By the way, whoever has a small budget, take a closer look at 50 1.8. The same picture for much less $.

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A great option for this money, I definitely recommend it!

They say that it is super sharp from 1.4 . On my crop it is 2.2 on FF from 1.8. 1.4-1.6 are also working, but this is not the same. About sharpness, it is prohibitive, someone advised using a soft filter for a portrait, it even makes sense. Color, when I saw what could be after the regular plastic zoom on the crop, I just thought that it was filmed with another camera. In full frame, he really became a staffer, and he can be used as a traveler, and a portraitist, and for a landscape. Moreover…

Pros
  • aperture, sharpness, price, has no analogues in terms of price-quality-weight ratio
Cons
  • There is a little backlash in the design, it does not focus very quickly in poor lighting.

Revainrating 5 out of 5

High-quality product, the price corresponds to the quality.

the first carcass was 450d - 50 mm 1.4 on it is simply gorgeous, the lens catches focus gorgeously, you get sharp pictures, from whom you can definitely take a cropped matrix, the lens works out with a bang for this money, work experience with this lens is 4 years. After switching to a full matrix Canon 6d, something is somehow not right . I don’t quite like the picture, this is my subjective opinion, but it’s up to you.

Pros
  • tenacious focus, good lens assembly, compact.
Cons
  • No

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A good balance of price/quality, recommend it.

He has been with me for more than 5 years, he took for 13k new ones. Given that the sharpness comes from 2.0, now I would not take it for 30k. Otherwise, not a bad fix for baptisms and thin shooting.

The item is average, not sure if it's worth the money.

Excellent all-arounder for those just starting out. Both crop and full frame modes were put through their paces by me, but I found that the full frame mode offered a more pleasurable experience overall. One year's worth of experience. Got pros: There is almost any chromaticity, and even minor adjustments may be completed in about two minutes using the editor. Very smooth, and there are no onion rings. A dim atmosphere and the later part of the day are both conducive to good drawing. There have…

Everything in the purchase suits, a very necessary product.

I bought it on a chrome 450D and since then I have practically not removed it from the camera. Then I bought a 5D Mark II with a 24-105 f/4 L USM IS glass and realized that my fifty is much better than this one (although they have different purposes). For doubters: this glass is worth buying. And the pictures from it are bkdt to please. And the difference it has with 50mm f/1.2 is quite tiny (which cannot be said about the difference in price). In addition, in the clubs with him for a long…

Pros
  • - fully fulfills its price - USM - tenacious focus - universal focal length, including for FF - good bokeh
Cons
  • - without a protective filter collects dust on the front lens - generally a collector of dust and sand

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I'm satisfied, the product is exactly as described.

It was the first lens purchased separately from the camera. He lived with me for more than 10 years, but the last 4 years was not used and was eventually sold. Repaired 3 or 4 times. The first time was the replacement of the focusing unit due to a light blow (during the shooting, I was pushed a little with my back right into the trunk). Other times it's just wear and tear. The design is such that it can only be safely operated with a hood. And having glued it tightly, you can not even fold the…

Pros
  • Aperture.
Cons
  • Pretty gray color. Slow focus. Invulnerability to light blows.
