Good value for money, I recommend.

I am an amateur. I bought about 5-6 years ago, instead of Kit on 400D. At that time, this was enough for me - for portraits of friends, for trips, for the studio. Now, of course, I want more. The last year or two at the far end began to refuse autofocus - you have to switch to manual focus. Served faithfully. For an amateur - go, convenient and versatile.

I am completely satisfied, item complies with description.

Friends, in the reviews everyone writes about HA, all this is treated, if you are not lazy and do the adjustment! My trunk has never left. Got pros: Good glass for a beginner. The presence of a stub, a motor, automatic focusing. It looks solid. Cons: Aperture. On the street, in principle, does not bother. But the room is dark, saves the flash. Overpriced, you can buy an analogue at an identical price. Tamron 17-55

No complaints, I recommend to buy.

I use it in the studio, it gives good sharpness from about 40mm, there are acomuple of examples on my website . But if it were not for the shortcomings, then it would be 17-40 4.0 of the L series, for 30 thousand). Pros: Unlike 18-55, there is already GLASS, there is a stabilizer. Universal, because this is a zoom lens, it can be both wide-angle and telephoto. Has cons: Overpriced for China, a bit dark, Not sharp at short focal lengths.

The right product for me, the price suited me.

In general, a good lens. The picture is very pleasing. I thought a lot about 24-105, but the quality is not so different as to spend money on it. Very light for this size and zoom. I took the Tamron 17-50 f2.8 to replace it. So far Iโ€™m satisfied. Using the editor (and this is necessary for fine-tuning with any lens) is quite satisfactory. Allows you to take photos with good quality, professional if desired. Definitely, the kit 18-55 is bad in comparison with it, if you take it as a kit, thenโ€ฆ

Pros
  • 1. Volume. The picture is bold, full. 2. Color reproduction. Pretty good. 3. Detailing. Able to reveal any crop matrix. 4. Weight. This is a separate issue. Light. Very. For such focal ones. Tamron 17-50 is just a brick in comparison. 5. The "pipe" does not leave, although it hangs. 6. Fast auto-focus. In daylight, very. 7. In general, the picture is not much worse than 24-105. A little rough. But the detailing is almost the same. And the colors are similar. 8. I donโ€™t write about the price. Itโ€™s worth my money, letโ€™s say so. 9. I completely forgot, of course, this is a stabilizer! It helps a lot and noticeably helps. this is not to smear the picture. Fixes on such values โ€‹โ€‹\u200b\u200bof ISO and F are smeared, but this one is not.
Cons
  • 1. Focal. 17 is good. 85 neither fish nor meat. Either 105, or you can limit yourself to 70. But it would be cheaper. 2. Loose. You turn the zoom and everything seems to hang out. Actually, no, but for some reason there is such a feeling. It's just that the details are not fitted in the best way. 3. Plastic. Like a school pen case.

A great everyday lens

This is a great lens. This is the only lens I use. The only problem is that it's so easy to use and takes such great photos that I'm considering spending more money and getting a faster lens. That doesn't detract from the versatility of this lens, I'm just more interested in photography and will take it to the next level.

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Clarity

Stock up or don't buy

This is a great lens, but it let me down at the worst possible moment. After 40 years of using Canon I can never fully trust this lens or Canon cameras. I received an error message saying the camera is not communicating with the lens and I need to clean the contacts on the lens, which I have done several times to no avail. I then swapped the battery, disabled autofocus and image stabilization, took the chip out and back in, etc. All I got was a black screen and an error message. Then I removedโ€ฆ

Great hiking goggles!

Canon EF-S 17-85 4.0-5.6 IS USM is the first generation EF-S model released in autumn 2004 with the EOS 20D. It was designed for APS-C cameras (EF-s mount) such as 60D, 70D, 80D and Digital Rebels. Full frame SLR cameras such as 5D MKIII and 6D are not compatible. The 5x zoom range from wide-angle to short-telephoto, equivalent to 28-135mm on a full-frame camera, makes it ideal for general use and travel. I've been using this lens for ten years now and it still works! Construction: It looksโ€ฆ
