Install this carburetor on a 179cc snow thrower the other day. I got up with no problems, but the intake manifold gasket was not included with the carburetor. The intake manifold gasket that was sent to me was not metal. Has anyone used a gasket in a carburetor kit and if so how did the block fare? There were problems? I'm wondering if I can use a shim shim and put another shim on top.

I changed the spark plug first ($2 option) but no luck. Poured over an old WD40 expander (another cheap option), no luck. I didn't give this article a single chance, but it worked. My Squall 2100 (fucking snowblower) started after 2 years. I was just trying to use it for a few more snow seasons before smashing the $500 Troy-built crap. In any case, so far so good.
