Replacement Cartridge Assembly for Delta Monitor 1700 Series Tub/Shower Faucet Valve from 1998-2005 Review

The seller quickly solved my problem. The water flow works fine, but after a couple of weeks the temperature control started turning badly. Now it is very difficult to regulate the temperature - the rotary knob does not want to turn. Other reviews mention the same problem. I contacted the seller who expedited my replacement. Good service.

On the old assembly, the inner rubber broke and got stuck in the valve, shutting off the water immediately. Corrosion on the bronze bushing made it very difficult to unscrew. Fitting the new rubber caps and springs to the internal slots is tricky but had enough patience with one finger. The new cartridge worked perfectly, although the water consumption went down slightly. Please note that the cartridge has a tab that needs to be inserted into the slot in the old case.

Bought Delta boxed from a local plumbing store and marked this OEM brand white and installed on 2 separate lights. I thought the OEM had a much smoother experience than the Delta and the OEM is almost identical to the Delta. All seals and o-rings fit well, OEM valve body is the same size. Be sure to clean the seal seat with CLR, clean the seat well and reassemble properly. I used a very thin layer of O-ring on the inside of the jar. No leaks as others have reported. So far so good, no leaks or issues. This is a great cartridge replacement. I gave five stars for ease of installation because it was easy for me. However, if you're not used to DIY projects, plumbing, or anything like that, you can get help with that. There are NO instructions included so you should have an idea of what you are doing. Other reviewers state that the temperature switch knob is sticking - and I have the exact same problem. It's almost impossible to get the temperature you want - if you try to move the dial it'll get stuck, and if it moves it'll jump way past what you were aiming for. The product comes boxed (not in the original Delta box) with all required parts and o-rings. Installation was pretty easy after watching an online YouTube video on how to do it.
