This is a well made scope for the price and the optics are very good for clarity and detail. For casual observation or occasional use in astronomy, especially when traveling, this is a good choice given its compact profile. and focusing is quite easy and comfortable. The C90 with a 90mm lens and 1250mm focal length is a tiny f13 aperture (focal ratio = 1250/90 = 13) on your camera. This is of course a weak image. This might work on a mirrorless camera where the electronic viewfinder can…

I really like my first telescope.

This c90 telescope is good for observing the planets and moon and is affordable compared to other telescopes. Not an easy decision. There are many Mac 90mm, 102mm and more scopes to choose from. After buying a telescope. You're going to need a few other things. A particularly good tripod. good viewfinder. And let's get to the engine. Then you can think about buying a Barlow eyepiece and some filters. And a few more things. If you want to take photos you need a good DSLR, or you can start with a

Great inexpensive scope for shooting spotting scope

I use it at the range for zeroing. So far super clean up to 200m. I can easily see .243 hits on the Shoot n See disc, but I can also see hits on the white pad I use. I'm sure a .223/5.56 hit would still be visible at 200 yards. This was done with the included 32mm eyepiece. I'm planning to buy a Celestron 8-24 eyepiece but if you already have a 12mm eyepiece that's probably all you need as long as you don't mind using two or one eyepiece for near and far vision . . The field of view is very…

Absolutely terrible optics

The Celestron 52268 C90 spotting scope that I received was blurry and even that blurry image was limited to a small area that was slightly off center. There was practically nothing but darkness around the edges. Having no experience with telescopes and thinking I was doing something wrong, I asked a friend with more experience with telescopes for help and he couldn't do it any better than me. My 40 year old 7x25 compact binoculars give sharper, clearer images at any distance, including the moon

Some advice for astronomy use

I bought this "spotting scope" mainly for astronomy use. Maksutov's Cassegrain design makes it an excellent street scope with very good optical visibility, with no chromatic aberration or "coma". other telescopes. This scope is a superb execution of the design and has excellent optical performance. However, there are a few limitations, which I list here: PROS: Because of its long focal length (F13.9), it works great with economical eyepieces. CONS: Comes with only one eyepiece (32mm, for 56x…

"Cheaper " Project scope

My device was defective. It had an off-center primary septum. This resulted in poor illumination of one side of the eyepiece field. However, I can make the following observations: The optics were sharp with the supplied eyepiece. The eyepiece looks like a GSO/Celestron Omni Plössl, but with a standard coating instead of a multi-coating. In that respect it's not bad. The only difficulty is that the opening in the deflector (16mm) is not wide enough to support the full field of the eyepiece. The…

Celestron should call this little Mac the Mighty Mac!

For what this scope does, it weighs next to nothing. Celestron markets it as a spotting scope with a limited lifetime warranty. I would avoid used ones as Celestron said this is for the first owner only. At $150, the $20 you save on a used device might not be worth it, especially if you need assistance on the go. At the time of ordering, this scope no longer comes with a tripod. The tripod kit and scope are still available at a slightly higher price, and the tripod can also be purchased…
