Worth every penny, even for one-time use!

I had to replace the baskets in my sink. Lowes sold the baskets but NOT the locknut wrench. I was driving myself insane trying to find the right tool, buying this tool and this tool that wasn't wide enough. Then I discovered this channel lock pliers, MADE IN USA!. They work great with 3 1/2 inch sink baskets with plastic or metal lock nuts. Another necessary tool is a tool to hold the center of the basket so you can adjust the basket properly. It was either this tool or plumbing. too expensive.

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • Some difficulties

It works where others have failed.

I bought 3 different types (brands) of "86mm oil filter cap" keys for my BMW 3X. None of the keys worked very well because they all "slipped off" when I tried to loosen the oil filter cap. THIS key has done its job. I was able to detach the filter cap, although I managed to scratch the cap. The minimum diameter this wrench will fit is: 2 1/4" (probably more like 2 3/8"). The maximum size is about 6 1/2". If you have a stuck oil filter or filter cap and your filter wrench is slipping off, try…

Great tool in the pliers

I can't believe I've played around with different pipe fittings and such for years. without this tool. I just renovated my sprinkler system and needed to replace the PVC piping to and from the pump. Securely holding and/or rotating large pipes and fittings is a breeze with this tool. I was able to tighten the fitting to a 2" pipe with no problems and no bloody connections. Before I had this tool I tried using a regular channel lock (frustrating as they were never big enough) or grabbed a strap…

Terrible plastic packaging!

I bought this to make it easier to remove the salt cell from my pool. I think I ordered a size up but it wasn't easy to be sure it would fit as there are some sizing differences depending on the information source. They worked well even if they are larger than necessary. The only reason I deducted a star is because the excessive plastic packaging made the tool difficult to remove. I used my kitchen scissors to cut one end of the bag which was tricky as it was 13 inches long. The plastic was…

There is a moral to the end of this story.

So I decided to "work" on my old pickup that was under a tree for 19 years. This will be easy, I thought. I'll just change the oil and spark plugs, put in a new battery and keep going. So I go to my local auto parts store and buy an old oil pan, some new oil and new spark plugs, a new battery, a new oil filter and an oil filter wrench. I even bought some of those cool mechanic's gloves so the neighbors would think I was an expert on the subject. "I'll have this thing ready by noon," I tell…

When it comes to buying an oil filter removal tool. . .

. Filter pullers reaching to the end of the filter only to find there is no place to attach a breaker let alone a ratchet to make the tool work! I bought it a few months ago, so I can't return it anymore. So I ordered this tool and had to put off changing the oil on the car until I received it. I bought this channellock instead of tektron which is 30% off. cheaper and has 4 times more 4.5 star ratings because I could clearly see the handles are thinner and less bulky so it fits better in…

How important is the right tool.

The right tool for the job. I installed a new sink and this tool was needed in two places. There is a thin cast brass lock nut, a washer over it and then a heavy duty Mack rubber washer that seals the bottom of the sink where the drain hole for the drain pipe is. These narrow wide pliers make it easy to grip and tighten that thin brass lock nut . It leaked at first, so I removed the nut and applied a very generous amount of cane grease. This acted as a lubricant and made it easy to tighten the…

I love this product so much I took a picture of it.

I love this product so much I took a picture to share. I have two cars that I change the oil in. Of course I can take it to the dealer but I really enjoy the process of changing the oil. I have pretty much every type of oil filter wrench and as much as I love channellock tools I really didn't have to buy an oil wrench as my other tools have worked fine for me. I recently had a situation where I couldn't remove the oil filter from my 2003 Honda CRV. The oil filter is 2 1/2" diameter and is the…
