Great tool for hand tools

I borrowed a pair of pliers from a colleague while waiting for them to arrive and they are better than the ones he loaned me. The captive, hinged nut ensures the pliers will never break and you don't have to worry about tightening the nut to avoid losing it. The teeth are stubborn, the pliers work smoothly.

Pros
  • This is great
Cons
  • Some flaws

Quality product made in the USA.

I thought I lost a pair of these so I ordered new ones. Found another pair along the way, but pairs on number 2 are better than one. Great for connecting plugs, squeezing calipers, twisting locked door handles or anything you need with a big jaw. Ideal for a tight lid on a marinade jar. Sometimes I even use it as a mallet (but not on a marinade jar).

There's no better pliers than Channel Locks

Twenty years ago I found a Channel Lock pliers lying in the dirt on a job site and used them almost every day to cut pallet straps. Twenty years later they still cut their rings the same as the day I found them. I also had one of these pliers and didn't hesitate to buy these smaller ones as a backup. Just can't beat old American steel.

  • GOLS certified

Made in the USA - Power & Hand Tools

Channellock became the standard for pliers so there was no question which brand I would choose if I needed a larger size. They are huge, although not their largest size. I especially needed mine because they are great for removing nuts from Kohler toilets, which are set into a patented rubber gasket. These pliers remove nuts in seconds without damaging the gasket. I reviewed the V-jaw version of the 420 but settled on it because the V-jaw version's tips aren't exactly aligned, which is what I…

Huge duct lock

Biggest pliers I have ever had. This huge channellock is larger than I expected but has the solid construction, smooth ride and weight I've come to expect from a brand. The ratchet and detent means the wide jaw grip is a comfortable narrow grip at the bottom. grip (the grip itself doesn't get wider until you get past the 4.25-inch claw), but it's still an intimidatingly hefty tool. Add in the force required to apply torque (or hold a gripped object), and you'll need the forearms of a carpenter…

  • Very good price

Top quality MADE IN USA!

As Always HIGH QUALITY MATERIALS HIGH QUALITY CONSTRUCTION the Channel Lock is known for. AND PROUDLY MADE IN THE USA! You can't get past a channel block - it's NOT JUST A NAME! I last used them to compress my front disc brake pistons when I replaced both discs and rotors on both sides and it worked GREAT! Much faster than a piston compressor. I highly recommend this product!

Cons
  • Slightly Crumpled

You need these rail fasteners

Listen, if you need multi-tooth pliers with adjustable tips and grooves, you need rail fasteners. These particular channellocks have a large neck at just over 4 inches, but if you need to press down on a 2 inch hard channel this is the right size. They have the classic channellock look but have more capacity for bigger jobs. If you have a typical day job then no doubt a Channellock 420, 430 or 440 will get the job done. But sometimes you try to twist a big pipe sleeve; Sometimes you want the…

Pros
  • Hand tools
Cons
  • Fade out

They were delivered yesterday. I like the fact that the teeth on the jaws are nice and sharp. It's good to have rubber on the handles. The various jaw release positions worked smoothly, the pliers opened/closed smoothly. They are even "Made in the USA"! But some things put me off. I know it's hard to compete with China and that probably means the assembly line for them is very fast. But that's not really a reason to leave a few imperfections in the finish that you don't typically see on…
