Out of Order: Pliers

I had the 6" version of this so I wanted the 8" version. I was very disappointed in their quality. While the cutting portion is fully closed, the gripping portion of the pliers has a very large gap that renders these pliers unusable. I'll go back and look for something else

Pros
  • Code Blue grips for durability and comfort
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Channellock E318CB suitable for power tools and hand tools

I really liked the new Channellock 'Code Blue' range. The handles are very comfortable yet durable. They are very well made, with perfectly shaped jaws and a cutting edge that does not meet without a gap. Channellock integrates the edge of the knife/anvil over the knife/knife as some manufacturers use.

Pros
  • Cross hatch on jaws works tight
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Not the usual channellock quality

I have a few other good channellock tools but they are Chinese quality. I may have a bad pair, but the tongs don't close completely, the two prongs don't line up, and the shading doesn't match. Also, the comfortable grips have some hot spots, likely due to the molding processes.

Pros
  • Slim, lighter design, streamlined shape for easier handling
Cons
  • Lots of stuff

Poor manufacturer quality control and customer support

Very poor quality control. Got a pair that had a curved surface on one side of the jaws and only met at the tip. I contacted Channelock customer service and was disappointed to be treated like a hot potato (ie referred to other contacts or departments because this or that department does not resolve warranty issues). Sent back for a refund

Pros
  • C1080 carbon steel for superior performance and KTL coating for maximum rust protection
Cons
  • Suitable

Channellock needs more attention to detail

The tips of the pliers were rough at about 25 degrees. The semicircular handles were misaligned. One half of the instrument is much thicker than the other half, and when viewed from the side it is again uneven: the right side is thicker than the left to a higher point. On the other hand, the wire cutters worked well, I liked the handles, and the rivet had no play so it was made to last. However, due to the shoddy workmanship mentioned above, I returned the tool and ordered an 8" Knipex pliers…

Pros
  • Made in USA
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled
