This stripper can't handle big corn on the cob

Fur. I thought this would be a wonderful gift for my grandson who just got braces. The main problem has got to be our California sweetcorn. The ears are too big. Second, the inner cutting ring deformed on the first try and the cutting teeth bulged straight up. So you have to use the old-fashioned knife routine. I'll send it back as soon as he gives it back to me.

Pros
  • Quickly add corn to any meal, from homemade salsa to southwestern salads
Cons
  • A few bits and pieces

Not recommended for peelers

Gets stuck midway on large corn cobs. Rotating the cob until it eventually runs away leaves the corn strewn all over the place. As soon as the corn cob goes through my hand with the tool, it shoots forward and crashes into the bowl, sending the corn flying. I go back to a knife. Place the small bowl upside down in the large bowl. Place the corn in a small bowl and run a knife over the cob. light enough.

Pros
  • Easily separate corn cobs with a quick twist and push motion
Cons
  • -

Great Little Gadget

Love this corn stripper. I cook corn on the cob in the microwave for 4 minutes in the shell. Then I cut off the bottom end of the corn cob and pinch the other end and the corn cob comes out cleaned of silk and all! I then use a corn stripper, cut off half of the cob in one direction, and then twist it to finish the other end. If I do this with two cobs of corn, I end up with a nice bowl of whole corn kernels for 3-4 servings. Just add some oil and salt and it's that good. I used to cut it byโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Quickly add corn to everything from homemade salsa to southwestern salads
Cons
  • Reliable

That thing rocks! good for kitchen utensils and gadgets

I freeze LOTS of corn every year to save my crop. So far I've pulled 7 dozen ears this season alone. I plan to do this two more times. I've tried so many different tools and methods to separate corn from the cob. From simply cutting with a knife, to other tools that threaten to rip your finger off, to others that break the first time you use them. This tool is amazing! I can husk an ear of corn in an average of 4 seconds (taking my time is fine!). Now there are things you must do to make it soโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Easy to pop corn on the cob with a quick twist and pressure
Cons
  • No mold required
