This USB hub works perfectly. I've been using it for a while and haven't had any problems with it. Since I only have two USB2 ports on the back of my computer, this hub solved two problems. I now have extra ports for my camera, IPOD etc and since my USB2 ports are on the back of the computer I keep the hub in the front so I don't have to constantly move the computer to access the ports. I got this up and running on an XP system in 15 minutes, mostly cable wise. The driver software loaded before I even logged in. This is an active USB hub. The study mentioned that electricity helps if you have a device that you plug in that requires electricity. After installation I went to Device Manager, looked at the "Power" tab on this device and saw that out of the three connected devices, two required power from the hub.
