Best Value for 80mm Presta Tubes

That's a lot for a good inner tube. Individual tubes, especially those with long 80mm Presta valves, are usually hard to find and retail for around $9-$10 if you can find them. I use deep carbon clinchers and prefer not to use tube extensions unless they are practical as they fit my 68mm deep wheelset. It's also convenient to carry as a spare as it fits any wheel size and won't let you down. Continental is a trusted brand and the quality of the tubes is good and stable.

Pros
  • Gotcha!
Cons
  • Difficult to say

Too weak best in sport

I don't know if it was a bad amount but I used two tubes from the pack I bought and it lasted for a 20-25 mile trip enough same route that I do 2-3 times a week. Couldn't find anything in the tire or rim to cause this and both had air leaks in various places, it looks like one of the seams running down the tube diameter. My tires are 25mm and I inflate them to 100psi. bad only on these tubes.

Pros
  • Absolute legend
Cons
  • Some issues

Factory patched twice and sold new

Disappointed with a slow leak in a newly installed tube. It looks like the tube was sold new but there were actually 2 patches. See photos. A patch ran out at the edge. This is fraud or a breach of warranty and Continental/Revain should issue a replacement based on the purchase of 5 lamps on 02/19. not refuse. The tube was not used until 10/19. The window for fraud or warranty/contract claims should be 3-4 years. Unfortunately there are limited options for 80mm stem tubes and most tubes worked…

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

Poor quality rubbish pole

My biggest criticism is that the pole is smooth, there is no retaining ring. So if you have a completely flat tube and are trying to fill it, unless your stem sticks out even an inch from the rim, it's difficult to turn on the hose pump as it pushes the rod into the tire and rim, it is virtually impossible to fill, for example a 60mm stem will absolutely not work with my 55mm rim. It also makes refilling extremely difficult, I have a bike pump that has a great and tight seal, but I have to hold

  • practical item

Quality control becomes an important issue

I've been using Continental tubing for a long time and haven't had too many problems with it. Unfortunately, while quality control was a notable issue, in my last case it is a major issue. I bought a set of 5 80mm Presta valved 20-25c tubes and ran into a big problem. Of the 5, 2 had holes where the tubes were bent. That leaves me with only 1 replacement hose. I'm an advanced cyclist so with the number of miles I ride flat tires can be a daily occurrence. In general I have little to no…

  • Doubt

Continental Quality Control needs quality control!

As another posted, it looks like something went wrong with Continental's quality control. I have bought five packs of these tubes more than once but this new set was just awful. Two of the top five parted where the valve stem attaches to the pipe. It is quite obvious that this is a manufacturing issue as the triangular shape of the seal is evident on the detachable part. Even more embarrassing, one of them let go when my bike was hanging in the garage 3 hours after I rode it. Imagine hearing…

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • The list will be long.

High Failure Rate: Looping

There aren't many options for 80mm stem tubes, so despite the not-so-great reviews for these tubes, I bought and used a few. When they work I have no complaints, however I have experienced a high failure rate. One blew out on my front wheel where the tire had come off the rim. Luckily I wasn't in the corner when it happened. When I took it out I saw that the stitching had come undone (sorry I didn't take a picture). Last week I fell after going over broken glass, which wasn't the tube's fault…
