No problem using sealant in these Contis.

Please Note: These Conti hoses come with one-piece, detachable Presta valves. If you want to add a sealant (like slime) to them, that doesn't require a lot of 'hacks'. Simply remove the valve, add sealant and reinstall. Reason enough to choose them. I also like to have a spare valve (from an old inner tube) in my bike bag. I've never had a valve fail, but hey, if it does I can replace it without changing the hose. Ever since I've cycled through the Yucatan, Central America and North Africa…

Pros
  • Sports & Outdoors
Cons
  • Doubtful

Although the factory packaging and tube itself are marked as suitable for 406 and 451 wheels I have found that it additional material is available. when mounted on 406 wheels. I've used a lot of talc on the tubes so I'm hoping they'll self-center and evenly distribute the excess, but who knows what's actually going on inside. I assume Continental knows what they are doing and everything will be fine. I couldn't find any lumps or bumps after installation or after inflation, so again I'm assuming

It worked great. For the first time with Presta valve hoses.

I'm slowly trying to make my own transition to a 'more serious' bike and this was my first attempt at going from Schrader tubes to Presta tubes. They were easy to install, even on a bike that seems better suited to everything but the Presta valving. Although the valve didn't fit snugly in the rim due to the V-shape, it worked. I also have a Presta air nozzle so I can use my compressor. My old inner tubes and tires kept leaking air. I would have to add about 20 pounds each time to get to 65psi…
