Loose threads, design okay

(A) ez leaking. Drained 3 times: first through the threads - when making PVC you must use PVC compatible pipe grease and NOT Teflon tape (drained). Second, after releasing the pressure (red button), a piece of PVC was trapped between the washer and the bodywork from cutting. I had to loosen the stainless steel screw to attach it. Third: 10 hours after installation, it drips onto the thread again. I think the threads are badly cut because I only hand tightened them with no tools or tubing…

leaks on all sides.

It looked like a worthy replacement for a device I installed over 5 years ago. This block had metal fittings for the pipe and part of the filter never leaked while in place. Eventually it started leaking and couldn't be repaired. So I ordered this as it was the closest thing to this particular device. I read the reviews so made sure to put more teflon tape on the fittings in the unit. It worked the second time I added more tape to the fitting. The filter part leaked so much even with the added…

Leak around the seal.

This is one of the items that I didn't want to buy online, but most of the options and the best prices for this type of filter are online. After hours of searching the internet and reading reviews, I rolled the dice and bought this one. When I received it I immediately noticed the thin liner in the glass. It's too small so you can only put it on so much. "CAPET/LEAKING!" BAD DESIGN. I spent a lot of time applying lots of silicone gasket grease and even another new gasket. MORE LEAK. I bought…

We bought this filter pack to replace an almost identical filter that had been in use for around 20 years. I was a little apprehensive about all the reviews mentioning a leak but I bought it anyway based on past experiences. I was wrong! This new block won't stop leaking. The outlet sleeve sealed the first time, but despite several repairs with a thorough cleaning of the threads with a large quantity of good quality thread sealant, water is dripping from the inlet connection. Unfortunately this

  • Good but not great

Eventually I had to replace my original Culligan block with this one. Well, nothing lasts forever, but 15 years of service, filter changes and hard water building up in my well, that was a while, mostly because the clear plastic became so stained that the filter was hard to see, mind you, 15 years of full service . We live in a country house and I use this as a pre-filter from my well to my house. Note: Install in series after the surge tank (you can have more flexibility if you install a…

I finally had to replace my original Culligan unit with this one. Well, nothing lasts forever, but 15 years of service, filter changes and hard water in my well, that was the time, mostly because the clear plastic got so dirty you could hardly see the filter, mind you 15 years of full service. We live in a country house and I use this as a pre-filter from my well to my house. Note: Install in series after the surge tank (you can have more flexibility if you install a booster pump), not before…

Is working. Watch out for leaks - you can fix the leak

This filter seems to work well. It's still fairly new. Installation was pretty easy. But when I turned the water on it had a slow leak around the handle at the top (not between the clear body and the blue top). Since it was hardwired into my system, I didn't want to remove it. I turned the water off and did a little research and there are 4 screws under the handle. I removed them and there is an o-ring in the handle. I lubricated the o-ring with silicone spotting grease, reassembled it and the…

Beware of poor fitting and prone to leaking

I bought this filter because of the bypass valve in the head. I wish I had read the reviews more carefully because when I pressurized the system water spurted out of all the fittings! And this is not my first plumbing project. not far. First thing I found was that the assemblers had installed the large o-ring incorrectly and it was pinched, rendering it unusable. Second, three layers of Teflon tape on the nozzles were not enough to prevent dripping. After working the o-ring with a heat gun to…
