Purchased to provide a low profile 4 pin trailer connector for my 2019 Highlander LE V6 AWD. It plugs directly into factory outlets and includes all the parts you need including a fuse for your Highlander and zip ties for cleaning your rig. Head on over to eTrailer or uHaul, they have some really good videos that show you exactly how to remove the cargo area trim to access the connectors. The whole job took about 20 minutes, but don't forget to put the supplied (!) fuse in the Highlander's fuse

Pros
  • Beautiful packaging
Cons
  • Expensive

Easy install, works great in 2012 Highlander SE

Bought a Curt trailer harness adapter for our 2012 Toyota Highlander SE to connect to our kayak trailer. After reading the reviews where others stuck to instructions, I watched the pre-arrival instructional video of the adapter where everything seemed pretty straightforward; That. Just follow the kit's instructions and you won't have any problems. They were there and it was very easy. Took me about 20 minutes from start to finish. My only concern is that a 30A fuse is required in the engine bay

  • Cool product

Five times hard to set up the way it should be

Sometimes a mistake is worth a mile. Claimed as a special chassis for my car, it doesn't quite fit. There are two connectors that interact with the car's wiring, both connect well. There is also a floor that needs to be done under the dashboard and this is where the product fails. There is a small ring terminal that attaches to one of the wires in the product harness and a self-drilling sheet metal screw that comes with instructions to "find a suitable grounding point near the connector andโ€ฆ

Install Highlander 2013

Overall pretty easy to install. The packaging looked a bit dodgy as there were a few fuses in a plastic box, the rest of the accessories (fuses, zip ties, plugs) were in a plastic bag inside the box. Easy to install for the most part, video through the trailer is helpful. You plug in the converter under the dash - this part was easy but attaching it to the 'metal box' as advertised was tricky and hard to find - high up on the left hand side. My car has a remote start system and the wires andโ€ฆ

Instructions are 99% complete, but I have a better alternative

Instructions for the Highlander 2015 are not complete. I have to say that the built-in fuse is in the engine compartment (it's not in the fuse box near the driver's knee panel). Etrailer.com shows a more complete installation than Curt's instructions. An alternative (and better) placement for the 4-pin connector is to route it through a hole covered with a round rubber grommet in the metal base of the driver's side rear storage compartment (below the plastic compartment). . I cut the grommet so

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • There are drawbacks

A 2010 Highlander with a tow pack and still needed that converter!

I bought this for my 2010 Toyota Highlander with the tow package. I made the mistake of trusting the etrailer.com website which said I only needed a 4 wire SUV rear adapter to connect to the trailer lights as I had a factory towing package. I have the original sticker for my car stating it has a tow kit which apparently just means it has a transmission cooler but no converter or flat 4 wire trailer light connector. I did some research and checked the transmission cooler. I installed it byโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Almost everything is fine

So, as most people say, it's very easy to install. I installed it on a 2015 Highlander Hybrid. There are many videos on the internet on how to get to the wiring in the back of the car so make sure to check them out. But there are a few things you should know, and reading this should make it easier for you than for me. Once you get to the point where you've removed the pieces and connected the two connectors, you have two decisions to make. The first is whether you drill a hole for the includedโ€ฆ
