16 months is about as long as they last

I had to replace my Cygolite hotrods at 16 months. I used them as daytime running lights about once a week and always recharged them after a ride. I bought these to improve my visibility on the road and was attracted by their small size and the ease with which I could attach them to my bike. After a year I noticed that the battery barely lasted 2 hours in DayLightening mode. Then last month the tail light started going out in the middle of my rides. For my own safety, I had no choice but to…

Terrible battery life and rubber band is rubbish

So the problem with these flashlights is the battery. They don't last very long, but you can charge them between rides, but that's where the problem starts. The rubber band they give you to attach the light to your bike frame holds the light very tight, but the rubber doesn't hold up over time. This exacerbates the situation when you have to constantly detach the light from the bike to charge it. After taking it off to charge it about 15 times, the rubber band started falling apart and tearing.

Almost lights. fits lighting and reflectors

Damn, I thought maybe this time I've found the perfect lighting for cycling. They are good but have many flaws that prevent me from giving a better rating. First, they take a long time to charge. If you don't charge it all night, it won't last more than 1-1.5 hours. Then you have a different light. So if you train 4-7 days a week you'll be stuck with one that will quickly run out as you can only charge one at a time. If you can manage to charge both for 12-24 hours each, you can get more than 3

UPDATE: REAR UNIT DEFECTIVE. Both have been reconfigured. The taillight has a "steady, then flash three times, then again" mode, which I think is most appealing to the motorist when watching bikes. Much better than just blinking or just constant. It adheres well to the seat post and does not slip. The front (white) light is mechanically identical to the rear, but is significantly less suited to front mounting than the rear is to rear. 1./ The light cannot be mounted on the head tube because the

Defective charging port seal

Changing my rating from 1 to 4 because the manufacturer came back to me with instructions on how to reseal the seal. At first I started disassembling the unit but stopped in case there were more problems. When the back is removed it looks like the gasket is longer than it should be, but once it's put back and screwed everything looks fine. I may have stretched it when opening the lid. Cygolite offered to send a new gasket but that was not necessary. I had this experience 3 weeks after purchase…

Another quality set from Cygolite

Another good set of headlights from Cygolite. Cygolite is a trusted brand that really delivers on their light output needs, unlike most of the junk fakes you'll find at Revain. Just be aware of what it is and what it isn't. The darkest continuous setting, which corresponds to the maximum specified runtime, is quite dark. This is good for showing your position when driving in a group at night (so as not to blind people in front or behind you), but not enough for visibility when driving alone at…
