Not what I was hoping for in the External Accessories category

I bought it hoping the winch cable wouldn't pull too far and jam the fairlead but it doesn't move the hook as much as it does I wanted would. However the item itself feels high quality and I trust Daystar as a brand, it just doesn't serve the purpose it was hoped for so it doesn't work for me.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • faded

Looked perfect out of the box

Looked perfect out of the box well protected in the box. Perfect fit for my Zeon 8 winch. Looks original, fits perfectly. I've had a safety winch for over 20 years, it died about 8 years ago, always wanted something like this to protect the reels when the hook stops. I don't like leaving the hook on the tow hook and being pinched against the rollers is no good. But my reel cable held up just as well as my first Warn.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • thoughtless

Simple but effective

A simple and effective way to safely disconnect the winch from the fairlead without pushing the hook into the rollers or catching on the lifting point. This also has the added benefit of keeping most of the road debris off the drum. Easy to install and made of durable material. And in case anyone is wondering how you use it in winching - it just pulls out when you wind up the rope and I let it hang about halfway through and hook my dampener on it.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Reliability

I bought this for my Smittybilt 12k XRC Gen2 winch and didn't know that Daystar made the model on purpose for smittybilt the reason is this model is not suitable for smittybilt winches it is too wide to fit between the rollers on the rail rather than bothering to return another one and I just put it through my table saw and removed 3/16" from both sides and it fits like a glove.

Pros
  • Excellent construction
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

It is great! I almost didn't buy it because of that.

Great stuff! I almost bought it because of the price. I still think 25€ is too much for a piece of plastic. But they are easy to use. I close the winch very well and hold the hook when not in use. I've found that it's also a good tool to make cable pulling easier. I leave the hook in, pull it under my arm and then let the plastic rest on my chest/arm and walk away, dragging the cable with me. It also works well as a cable dampener during draws. Suitable for my Quadratec Q9500i.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than others

Fits new smittybilt x20 winches, not older XRC winches

I can say without a doubt that it is a perfect match for the winch that came with my smittybilt x20 10k winch. It is too wide for my previous generation smittybilt XRC 9.5k winch. on my car. Daystar makes another isolator for those referred to simply as their "Smittybilt" isolator. I used to be VERY careful pulling my hook into the fairlead, but with this insulator it's easier and less likely to damage the fairlead. . You still have to be VERY careful with the tip squeezing the line as it runs…

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Big and bulky

This rubber pad serves as a good grip for the winch hook and prevents it from getting stuck and hitting the car's bumper. I like this better than the bumper bracket as it doesn't chip paint or rattle. The Warn winch hook is removed with just a cotter pin and slides through a hole in it so you don't have to remove your entire winch. While the photo shows a rolling key, the insulator also has a "tongue" of sorts on the back so it clamps the key in the same way. If you thread the turnbuckle…

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • No power
