It pairs perfectly with my 17hp Kohler motor on my John Deere mower and spins this motor like a top! on an old starter that I replaced. It took less than 5 minutes to swap them out! Easy 5 stars!

The L110 requires a very small gasket with washers. The original starter has a metal shield that needs to be replaced with a new starter. The problem is that this shield makes very little contact with the new starter clutch. You'll need to put a couple of washers between the starter and the case to keep the case off the clutch. Otherwise a perfect replacement.

Got this engine. Excellent price. Easy to install and worked straight away. Then he died 2 weeks later. I found out that this is the history of these engines in John Deere tractors. According to my dealer, it rarely lasts long. Refused to pay him $188 for a John Deere brand engine and eventually found a $109 Kohler OEM starter. Of course I would like this engine to work, but it didn't work.

Keep your old starter until you get this new one. Hold two starters side by side, see where the screws go. I found the new head was 1/16th smaller than my old one. I had to get two washers, one for both bolts, and place them between the engine block and the starter. Except this great little starter for your money soured…

I have a Scotts S1642 (1642H) lawn tractor with a Kohler Command CV16S engine. John Deere (over $200) and Kohler (about $200) found race numbers that match the numbers listed for this backup racer.
