Large filter for beginners/small tanks

For 1-3 gallon tanks or pools this small block is a real find and workhorse. It has an average low noise level, powerful intake and modest exhaust (adjustable). Inside the filter, you can customize and even add a ceramic bio-media, and it's very easy to clean and maintain. I personally use a reflective sponge to slow down the turbulence as this device is being used in a 1.5 gallon Betta quarantine tank and the turbulence is a bit stronger for this type of fish. The filter took over a month to…

This filter is quiet, works well and looks great.

I bought this filter to use with my 5.5g betta tank. This works great as planted tanks are messy; I have yet to find an error. Sponges work great, nothing gets stuck or clogged. The filter has an adjustable handle that allows you to control the flow of water. It's easy to open and see how it works. The assembly instructions were easy to understand; They are on the back of the box. This nano filter is one of the best filters I have. It is very small and will make you smile just for its size. I…

Good filter for small aquarium

Quiet filter, works well. Ideal for a small tank (3 gallons or less) with few fish, but won't be able to handle a very dirty tank. The filter material consists of two sponges, one large, the other a little thinner. That's all. I inserted a very small sachet of ceramic biomedium into the well of the filter. There's no activated charcoal, but they make a cartridge filter out of filament that has a small amount of activated charcoal in it if that's important to you. The flow is adjustable, which…

I love how easy it is to take it apart.

I've been using this in a five gallon aquarium with a goldfish for about a year and a half. I had no problems with that. I like that it is easy to disassemble, you can clean every detail. The included filter sponges are washable and reusable, I still use the original sponges that came with the kit. The only sound it makes is running water, no loud vibrations or anything like that. I'm buying a replacement now because we had a power outage and the motor burned out. For $15, this one worked…

Good product with some modifications

Love this little filter! I previously bought one under the RedSea brand from Petco (seems to be sold under a few other names too) but lost it after a few moves. Petco no longer sells them so I was thrilled to find the same filter here! GOOD The filter is really powerful for its small size. I keep the flow as low as possible, otherwise my rooster would constantly be thrown against the wall! The motor is not very loud at all. When I sleep it's about a foot from my ear and I'm still a heavy…

Everything has to work PERFECTLY, be quiet.

I bought this for my 5.5 Betta aquarium after receiving a recommendation from a pet store and also reviews here. Noise = It's only quiet when you use it in a certain way. If you set the water flow to a low level, it's very noisy. Noise is caused by filter vibrations due to low water flow. The filter only regulates the incoming water, but does not reduce the power of the motor that pumps it out and therefore puts a load on the device. I've tried adjusting it and repositioning the filter in a…

Great for my 3.5 gallon Betta aquarium

This filter works very well in my 3.5 gallon Betta aquarium. It's adjustable and I set it to the lowest flow rate possible since cockfighters don't really like turbulent water. My betta fish is free to roam in the tank and doesn't seem to be affected by the currents the filter might create. It uses sponges instead of spare cartridges which I prefer. Beneficial insects accumulate on the filter material as well as in gravel and decorations. Every time you change a cartridge, you lose the…
