Absolutely Amazing Speakers

Def Tech speakers have a sound I either love or hate. I'm very happy with these speakers but more importantly they look so good a girl wouldn't mind in the living room. Be careful ordering these from stock, they weren't packaged properly and the first one I bought cracked in transit.

Pros
  • New to My Collection
Cons
  • I'm Mad

Speakers jump in standby mode

Called DefTech and they said the problem was with my new Pioneer receiver. Both towers will clap when going into standby (shutdown) mode. The center channel is a CS9060, also from DefTech, which also has a built-in subwoofer but doesn't pop. I'm still waiting for the company to contact me about replacing them with turrets that have internal amps that WORK. That defect aside, the speakers are sick and seem like they're worth their money's worth. You only need ones that do not flap so that they…

great sound - surround sound systems

great sound, great product. delivery was great too. I was concerned that they might be damaged during shipping, but everything was great between Amazon shipping and DefTec packaging, after only two months: they still sound great, but I expect problems in the near future. One of the towers doesn't turn off (it just doesn't turn off automatically. The LED button doesn't even work, but the sound plays normally), and the other crackles when it goes into standby mode. Two towers, two different…

Good value for money

After years of using the right speakers in a surround sound system used for both home theater and casual listening, it's time for one upgrade. I researched many speakers from different manufacturers to get a center, two front and two surround back speakers that would work together. Since I don't have an A/V amp that costs most of the car, I needed high performance speakers that are known to produce quality sound at both low and high decibels. They definitely achieved that goal - they sounded…

Fancy amp straight out of the box

Bought 2 of these BP-9060's to add to my system. I unpacked both and set them up and at first everything was great and sounded great. BUT when the speakers went into standby mode and the internal amplifier was turned off, both speakers made a loud bang, around 70 decibels! I tried to see if it was me but no, I tested them for the next 3 hours and no matter what I did they made the same loud click as they went to sleep. Heck, on the last try I didn't even plug in the speaker wire, just plugged…

Pros
  • Like everything else
Cons
  • Big and bulky

Expensive but sounds crazy.

These speakers are fantastic. I would recommend going the extra mile and buying a top speaker as well. With the way these speakers are built, you really should be getting the entire 9000 package from the final technology, including Front, Center, Rear. It's expensive to make, but you only live once, and if you want theater quality in your home, this is for you. You can't use these speakers on a cheap surround receiver. You spend over $1,500 on the right receiver to make this speaker work…

Worth the money

I've owned an old pair of Definitive DB-7s for quite some time. When the midrange needed a boost I decided to upgrade. I went back and forth over the model and finally settled on the 9060s because they allow you to add top surround speakers and 12 inch woofers would probably annoy my neighbors. I use them with a subwoofer, a center speaker and two studio monitors across the room for surround sound. These 1060s are crisp and clear. I was really shocked. They are narrower than the DB-7 but sound…

pop amps! Both had to be replaced, I hope there are no more problems!

It's been about a year now. Similar issue with other reviews where I heard loud pops from the subwoofer. This actually blew up the amp in my left tower. Hooked up DefTech and they sent me a new amp to replace me. At the age of 11 months my right tower blew the amp (he had a similar cracking problem which never went away). The right amp burned out when I was 11 months old and a new replacement amp was also sent to me. When I asked if this was a known issue, I got "no, they've never seen this…

Do not look back. on Home Audio

New listening experience. I've lived with two Mission 732 front speakers and a 12" Velodyne subwoofer for about 20 years. I've also had 2 Polk Audio bookshelves and a Polk center channel for surround sound, all powered by a Yamaha RX-V575. I had a really good sound (I thought so) and was very pleased.I visited a friend who had 20 year old Definitive Technology BP-10 turntables and was blown away by the difference between my sound and them DTs was amazing.I started shopping and found the latest…
