I installed a Chevy fuel pump for the first time. Started straight away. I raised/tipped the bed, but you also have to remove the tank to clean it. The original parts have disintegrated and are floating in the tank. It is impossible to remove the old pump without contaminating the tank. GM must have lubricated the pump with black sealant. I had to cut. See photo. With the pump deflated and the base raised, it is easy to drain and drain the tank.

This fuel pump looks right. You can use AC/Delco and may not get the best performance. I like AC/Delco for most of my Genuine GM PARTS for my 1994 Chevy Silverado C1500 5.7L V8. But this fuel pump made my truck run better, increase power and increase fuel economy significantly. Delphi HP 10000 is recognized as the best fuel pump. I installed this pump/sensor assembly on my 2016 1992 Chevy K1500 4.3L V-6 and it worked as expected. I recently suspected that this pump might be failing, but found that it was the knock sensor wire on the exhaust manifold and the wire's sheath had melted, causing a short to the exhaust manifold.
