It is better to buy a new pan with the drain pre-installed.

Leak. Bottom line: if it flows, it doesn't work. As a result, I replaced the transmission pan with a pre-installed plug. I've tried sealing the universal plug with a copper washer, sealing the screw with thread sealant, but it's still leaking. Not worth the disappointment. It is better to buy a new pan with a drain plug pre-installed.

Easy to put on and take off

No tightening torque specified. It's easy to put on and take off, making it useless if you can't weld it. Be extremely careful. When I tightened it up, it was still easy to rotate the transmission pan it was installed in. Slightly more tightening led to breakage. It literally broke off. I could ask a friend to weld it but that wasn't my plan.

Pros
  • Heavy duty
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

An excellent solution for being built into the pallet of the machine.

Excellent solution for the automatic transmission oil pan. Be sure to install it in the rear of the side panel and check for sufficient free space on the inside. Once you've drilled the hole be sure to clean off any burrs to ensure a good seal, I also used red Loctite on the threads and pan mating surfaces. Use Teflon tape on the drain plug. There are no leaks yet. But when it comes time to change the liquid, I can drain most of it before I drop the pan and get a lot less messy.

Pros
  • Comfortable
Cons
  • Only available in white

The drain plug is a hex wrench.

I've been wanting to add a temperature sensor to my 700R4 for a long time and figured this drain kit would kill two birds with one stone. In fact, compared to other kits I've tested with the exact same dimensions, this one allows the temp gauge to go all the way through; others have a reduced neck internally, requiring a short probe. Note that the drain plug is not a pipe screw as shown in the picture, but a small set screw that requires a hex wrench. The advantage is that it is flush with the…

Drill and screw the oil pan drain plug

I like to change the transmission oil every 30-40000 miles and always put one in so I don't have to change the filter and oil pan gasket every time. The manufacturer's change interval on my car is 100,000 and I can't wait that long to change this fluid. The only problem I see is that the plug is about 3/8" in the sump so the 3/8" fluid doesn't drain. I think the only way to avoid this is to weld the cork. In any case, changing some fluid every 30,000 is better than nothing every 100,000 in my…
