Works on a rim water heater with a high torque impact wrench

Worked great to replace my anode rod. Rome really doesn't want you to switch poles. I had to use a dremmel to sand down the area around the anode rod to even fit the socket. I then snapped up two extensions before buying a high torque electric impact wrench to finally loosen and replace the anode rod (Makita XWT08Z).

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Can't remember

I bought this socket to replace the anode rod in.

I bought this nozzle to replace the anode rod in our water heater. Unfortunately, I couldn't get enough torque on the old anode to remove it, even after placing the water heater on the floor, strapping it down, and using the turnbuckle on the wrench. Regardless, the socket worked admirably and was deep enough to reach the head of the recessed anode stud.

Pros
  • Thinner than a wrench Nozzles for those hard to reach places
Cons
  • Available in white only

I was finally able to remove the water heater anode!

I had problems with the water heater in the previous house and didn't want to have the trouble again in the new house, so I took some "prevention measures". Maintenance". As well as the heaters, I also wanted to change the anode. When my socket method failed, I did a little research and found that impact wrenches are highly recommended. I knew my battery-powered Makita didn't have a matching outlet adapter, so i ordered a kit for this socket. i think i tried the combo out the same day it…

Pros
  • Recessed corners distribute torque between apartments - promote life
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Great outlet but can't beat Rome's greed.

This head is fine. This is the third outlet I've bought to get one that fits the water heater anode rod screw so I can replace it. I've tried a one and a sixteenth, I've tried 26mm and 27mm, I've tried short and deep heads, nothing seems to catch the anode rod bolt. In my Rand water heater, the screw to loosen the anode rod is recessed about 1 inch. Some outlets have an outside diameter that is too large to fit in the recess. This Dewalt is definitely great in two areas: its OD is narrow enough

Pros
  • Large marking, laser engraved, easy to identify
Cons
  • No machine
