DEWALT DW7116PT Precision Miter Blade Review

I knew it was going to be a coarser cut than the standard 40 tooth blade but it also seemed to deviate a bit when cutting. This is good when you're cutting rougher, dirtier wood and speed is more important than precision. For other cuts, stick to the standard 40T or the optional 60T.

inches thick and the edges were so clean, that I would have to be very careful to get the best result with a handsaw. The thin profile also makes it easy to get a really precise cut.

I used this to replace the commonly used standard 40 ton saw blade in my Dewalt cordless miter saw. The original blade was suitable for 2x4 and 2x6 frames, but had unwanted cracks on the narrow trim and moldings that became more noticeable as the blade wore. The 60T blade is a huge improvement, almost no chipping or cracking even with "mis-use" on the fine side of the finish. I don't normally buy Dewalt blades, but I'm happy with them.

This blade seems to cut great with minimal breakage etc. My complaint is that it is too thin. This is probably fine for a thin piece, but on a 2X piece, if you shave off a small amount to fine tune the cut, the blade just flexes due to its overall thickness. I'm sure they make them this thin to maximize battery life, but I'd rather sacrifice that for better cutting. For a Dewalt battery powered miter saw there are better thin blades that are much stiffer.
