Fits my 1898 Chevy K3500 door

This door roller pin fits my 1898 Chevy K3500 door. I replaced the last one at the Chevy dealership with OEM parts. This improved one-piece design feels better. I had to sand down part of the ribbed raised area to get it all the way in with an iron hammer.

  • Heavy duty construction
Cons
  • Compatibility

Nice replacement OEM

Taking out the old is easy, but putting in the new is a little trickier. It is easiest when the door is completely removed. However, it can be done with it, it only takes a very long stroke or an extension to hit with a hammer. The new roll will need to be ground where the knurling is to fit properly. Doesn't fit right out of the box without loops. A few drops of wd40/oil/grease INSIDE the roller is a good idea. Fits all GMT400 style trucks, fits my 1993 K1500, Commuter K2500 and Commuterโ€ฆ

Repair S10 1994 with modifications

Exactly what I needed. If you have a grinder and a Dremel, they're repairing a 1994 S10. They don't make them for my truck so I turned the end to fit and then used a dremel to cut a hole for the electronic clip which ended up being the perfect solution because the only thing I could find for the S10 was a it was all a hinge that bolts on and mine was welded on to keep that from happening. The key is to grind just enough to fit the holes and cut off about 1 inch. If you have a car I'm sure theyโ€ฆ

The part is the wrong size.

The shaft has a knurled collar that should line up with the hole in the upper clutch. That the Howe shoulder is about 0.03 inch in diameter is too big, the design is wrong. The parts appear to be well made so I don't see this as a quality issue, I believe it's a design issue. I have a lathe. , so I reduced the diameter to 0.005" larger than the appropriate hole and pressed it in with no problem. Unless you have a lathe and engineering/locksmith skills to remake this part, I would recommend notโ€ฆ

Works well - with mods

Glad to know someone is making a replacement for a pin that inevitably breaks on older GM products. YouTube videos mention the need to grind the knurled burr area at the top of the pin section that presses into the steel hinge. I can verify this as I had to put the pin in a drill and use a file to smooth out the burrs. They increase the diameter so much that it is almost impossible to install the pin without using excessive force. Sawing the ribs still leaves the pin diameter large enough toโ€ฆ

Have a helper handy

Works great, I've owned my truck for almost 5 years and the roller pin broke before I bought it, luckily the previous owner has the spring in a box on the Housed back the seat of my extended cabin. Now my door no longer closes on my feet when I get in and out of the truck and when I work on it the door can now stay open for me. The only downside is that the entire door has to be removed because you have to ream the bottom hole a bit and you can't ream it far enough. Just now my buddy helped meโ€ฆ

It's not interesting to change, but it's expensive in the store.

That's what I needed but. I gave it a 2 for ease of installation as a 1 would mean it didn't install. A press would be the only way to fit it in without rework. The mechanic I usually use wanted to charge me $120 for a replacement because he was having trouble with everyone he had to do. Sounds like an industry issue for all brands. I don't know how anyone can do this without problems with an item that only the factory seems to be able to solve properly. There should be an updated design for an

Works great, door opens and stays

Replaced a bent pin in my 1998 Chevy Z71. Worked great. At the same time, get the spring compression tool. Makes work easier. I only ground the head off the old pin as it was a factory original and didn't have a retaining clip on the end. The original pin was bent once in the head to secure. Used a dremel tool, quick and easy. It took some force to knock the hinge pin out and then reinsert it. I removed the whole door because I was replacing the hinge pins at the same time. The door is levelโ€ฆ

It's a good design, possibly better than the original.

Nice design, possibly better than the original. Seems to be stronger. The time will show. THIS was purchased from Revain.com LLC and not some random reseller. Our original reel has deviated from the spring pressure. I can only assume a manufacturing defect as it broke from simple stress. It has been on my to do list for 6 months and I finally met my body shop friend to install it over the weekend. We waited 20 minutes but it took an hour and a half. This was partly due to problems with theโ€ฆ
