🔧 Dorman 47065HP HVAC Heater Hose Connector - OE FIX Review

I put off replacing the two plastic elbows on the belt tensioner housing at my neighbor's at 04 Park Avenue. It looked like the work of PITA. It turns out that less than an hour has passed, and most of the time the antifreeze was drained below knee level. As others have noted, one of the two knees was broken in a hole where it couldn't be seen, but was constantly leaking antifreeze. These elbows came with a damaged o-ring as shown. As others have pointed out, the o-rings are not of very good quality. I didn't take any chances finding out and just replaced them with the original o-rings before installing. One of them almost broke in the box. But I knew this from other reviewers, so I planned accordingly and did not return the item. The elbows themselves fit perfectly. You know the problem. You drive one of those GM cars with a good 3.8 liter engine. BUT GM 3.8 V6 II bypass hoses crack and leak. You looked very bad. They crumbled in the end (photo). I ordered these to replace the plastic coolant lines on my wife's 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix 3.8L. The plastic parts eventually got too old to handle the heat and started cracking and leaking. Replacing the plastic headers with these aluminum ones is a good idea but other reviews mention poor quality O-rings that melt when heated. I chose to replace them with stock GM O-rings prior to installing these elbows just to be on the safe side and hopefully save me some trouble later. **UPDATE** 12,000 miles after installation one of the orange o-rings failed. All of the orange o-rings looked like they were about to fail. There's nothing quite like being stuck on the street for a dime. I think metal bows are the way to go, but I would definitely stay away from Dorman bows.
