I thought it couldn't be worse and ordered this part.

The lock on my 2005 Tahoe broke a few years ago so I took it to the store to have it replaced and it cost almost $300. After about a month it started making loud noises every time it was locked and the store didn't do anything for me. So I put up with this noise for about a year until I couldn't take it anymore. I went online and found that it's not uncommon for a Tahoe to have been in production for a while. I also found a link to a DIY solution. I thought it couldn't get any worse so I…

Replacement part works as described

Product was a direct replacement for a factory part. The instructions on Dorman's website were pretty straightforward - when it came time to remove the part, the instructions weren't detailed enough when it came to removing the tailgate arm (Step 6 of Dorman's instructions). I had to remove three cables from the drive unit to allow the unit to rotate as described. Also, when installing the new part (step 7) it should indicate that you need to attach the tailgate arm, then slide the block into…

Works perfectly! Very satisfied!

First, I have a 2006 GMC Yukon Denali XL. After overcoming the fear of removing the two panels on the top gate, I decided to purchase an actuator. The plates came off with little effort. Note: First remove the top cover. Once the panels were removed, I simply untied the three lock cables. After that, only three screws were left to remove the mounting plate and an additional star screw to remove the actuator. The exchange turned out to be much easier than I thought. The last time this happened…

Expensive but made by well known parts brand

It was expensive compared to others but I've seen some of the cheaper parts break in a short time and I know Dorman will make aftermarket parts forever , so I decided to do this. Installation is very easy and works great. I turned the link at the end that slides into the door hardware upside down, maybe for shipping purposes? but it's easy to flip by twisting it to align the tabs, taking it out, and flipping it over. put in the wind. The only thing I didn't like was that the one screw holding…

Great spare part!

This part worked great on my 2005 GMC Yukon SLT. As this is a Chinese made part only time will tell if it will last 10+ years like the original drive. If you're wondering how difficult the replacement is, don't worry. It's as easy as replacing a fuse. The dealer charged over $500 for the part, not including labor. So I think it's fair to say you'll make the right choice. It looks like Revain doesn't want me to include instructions so I've included photos in this review. When I bought the drive…

We're saving hundreds ($$$$)!

When we couldn't unlock the tailgate on our 2006 Chevy Tahoe, we contacted a few different dealerships to see what it would take to unlock it. Both said it was probably a bad "drive" and needed to be replaced. Both stated that the work would cost between $600 and $700. In the meantime, we took the Tahoe to our local mechanic, who was able to remove the tailgate inner panels and determine that the actuator was indeed defective. After watching a few YouTube videos showing how easy it is to swap…
