Installation was easy - pulled out the old door lock, .

Installation was easy - pulled out the old door lock, put this in with one of the smaller connecting rods and it worked! It's a little different from the 1996 Windstar OEM, but it works!

Pros
  • Good workmanship
Cons
  • not reliable

Works perfectly! to Power Door Lock

I installed this door lock actuator on a 1997 Ford Explorer Sport in the driver's door. There are videos on YouTube that explain how to do this. Took me about 1-2 hours but I took breaks from the heat. I looked around and the same part cost twice as much. It was delivered quickly.

Pros
  • Feels Good
Cons
  • Requires Socket

in working condition, according to power lock

the only criticism is that the connector was slightly different so i had to replace the wiring harness and seals of the connectors with an oem for which i have the wiring harness and had to change the plug slightly so the blades are bigger but they don't tell you in the field so you have to improvise but the part works and well now let's see how long it lasts,

Pros
  • it can also be seen from the old
Cons
  • operating speed

Works Great: Electric Door Lock

Neck pain to get where you need to go (Lincoln 91 tailgate) but once inside it works. However, do not read the instructions. Attach the rod you want to use where it enters the door, attach the actuator to the door (I didn't have to remove the bracket) and then connect the rod to the actuator. You'll never get it if the rod is already attached to the actuator.

Pros
  • Perfect for Outdoors
Cons
  • Little Stuff

I finally fixed this lock!

Too bad it took me so long to listen to the old, grinding, broken drive. Installing the bar was a bit tricky and I was glad I had a 12vdc impact wrench to loosen the set screws. In hindsight, I wish I had remembered to insert a rod into a hole in the locking mechanism before attaching it to the drive. Other than that, this unit sounds and performs like an OEM. The fact that the price was almost half that of a regular store was just gravy. Add Prime Shipping and get five stars!

  • Few competitors

1995 Ford Windstar Liftgate (Rear Door) Door Latch Actuator

This unit is a universal replacement and comes with a variety of tie rod ends. On my 1995 Windstar, the correct shaft end was a long, J-shaped one. To get mine out I had to cut off the stem end and carefully expand the strut holding the actuator (it's a press fit). After the actuator was removed I removed the old stem and placed the new long J end of the stem in its place and mounted the actuator in the bracket with the studs furthest from the end of the piston. Then insert the end of the stem…

Poor quality actuator for 1998 Cobra

I think as this actuator can be fitted to many types of vehicles the instructions are very short and to the point, installation instructions can be found elsewhere. I only give this 3 stars because the quality of this product is really cheap. The only place water can get into the drive (which usually kills it) is poorly protected. The rubber boot is either too hard or too short because when checking the actuator before installation, the boot comes off the rod when lifting. Installing it on my…

works but not like the original

Installation using videos available on Youtube which makes the installation easier. The drive doesn't feel as solid as the original, and while Revain says it's an approved part, it's not an exact replacement. I was actually a little disappointed given the other reviews and the Revain review. The drive works but is not stable, it takes several cycles for the door to open. In hindsight I wish I had paid a little more for a more direct replacement that with the rubber screen is similar to the bad…
