Luckily I tried twice before closing the sunroof - it worked the first time but not the second (and many more) after that. Plugged in the old one (that worked ok but was sticky) and it worked over and over again so I opened the lid and used it. If I closed the sunroof, I would be in serious trouble.

Fits perfectly and opens the tailgate easily. mine on my 07 4runner was melted and very difficult to open, especially in the cold winter. It was the difference between day and night and I wouldn't hesitate to do it again. Buy this if yours is even a little hard to open now I can open it with my pinky. I can't recommend enough to change it

As with the others, the original tailgate release switch on my 4Runner never failed, but the gum started to break, so I thought it would be a good idea to use the "sticky" switch. When I started I received the product, it seemed to me to be well designed and I had no trouble installing it. It worked fine for about 9 months but started to fail a few months ago. I tolerated that for a while, but now it just doesn't work. It looks like I would be better off buying an OEM part directly from Toyota.

I bought a used 2013 4Runner and have had intermittent problems with the fuse. One day when I was reaching for the tailgate handle, I noticed that it had melted and sagged in the middle. I ordered a new rubber cover and was able to mount it from the outside. I was unable to hook the edges of the rubber cover slider under the metal tailgate.
