Does not work on carpeted trailer beds.

This motor winch could not lift my 4600 pound 25 foot Larson deck boat. There is a lack of courage. Then I had to buy $400 polypropylene slides to winch the boat up. But now I'm happy but had to buy an $899 winch in Australia and save a few hundred dollars by not buying a slide.

Pros
  • Regular Price
Cons
  • Long Lead Time

Worth the money

Exceeded all my expectations. I bought a winch to avoid manual cranking. It made all the difference when I used it to hoist my 18.5 foot North River onto my trailer when the water level didn't allow me to fully submerge the trailer under the boat. I could never have skipped him under such conditions. I welded the winch to my trailer to deter theft by turning a few nuts. It's easy to assemble and I'm very happy with it.

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons
  • Disappearing effect

This is not for a heavy boat over 5000# - No lock - strap will slack if boat bounces while towing. My hand winch works harder in low gear. Maybe the application is wrong, but if it says 9000cap and it can muster 4000 - well, I expected better. It would be fine for a small boat or a boat on the lake. Wired directly to my diesel truck with two batteries - no dice.

Pros
  • Brilliantly made
Cons
  • Can I add

Excellent wind. saves a lot of cranking!

Works great. really saves my shoulder loading my pontoon boat onto a trailer. The only downside is the screw holes didn't match my trailer so I had to drill new ones. It also comes with a power cord meant to be stored in the trunk of a car but I have a pickup truck so I had to buy extra plugs and make a pigtail to go between the trailer and the plug on the truck. In this case, purchase rubber plug covers and a separate winch cover along with the winch.

Pros
  • So far satisfied

Broken belt "test " shows that this is a heavy duty winch.

This is a tough and heavy guy, I accidentally got a hook on my trailer. Thinking my boat was difficult, I kept trying to get the boat onto the trailer. TW9000 got loud; grumbled and groaned ----- and eventually the strap broke about 8 inches from the hook (the tag said the strap had a breaking strength of 4900 pounds). After using the freewheel to remove the entire belt, I found that I had actually bent the bolt holding the end of the belt in place and also ripped the belt around that bolt…

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • No machine gun

not good on a busy ramp

Our previous electric Dutton Lainson worked well for six years and I didn't see our exact replacement model so I ordered this one which claims to be the same specs. I found that the single battery cable from the battery to the winch was too short for our GMC double cab and long trailer tongue, so I had to connect the new winch connector to the old cable. The main issue is that this particular winch couldn't do the job of moving our 4000# boat less than fifteen feet within the 4 minute operating

Pros
  • Handsfree
Cons
  • Very expensive

Very happy with this winch

I am very happy with this winch. I use it to load a 22 foot Sea Ray Seville CC boat that weighs about 4000 pounds. The boat is mounted on an Easy Loader roll trailer. And the boat we use has a steep ramp angle. This winch has a release lever to control the speed the boat rolls when unloading and the winch easily brings boats back to the trailer. The wiring harness that came with the winch was long enough to connect to my GMC. Sierra 1500 Extended Cab (with 6.5ft box). I took advantage of…

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Also buy the adapter plate for $35!

Great! However, you must purchase an adapter plate available from the manufacturer. I used 7/16 plus two 1/4 sockets. The first was basic, but the 1/4 screw was finicky with a 1/4" universal socket underneath. I ordered an adapter plate in case I need to remove and replace the winch. The TW-9000 looks more stable and I'm glad I got it, the instructions say it should cool down in 4 minutes but it never stopped. The water level is dropping and the last 3 feet of the draw is quite steep. I heard…

TERRIBLE INSTALLATION! But it works as it should.

I have not used a winch to raise my 22 foot. Aquasport Explorer on the ramp. This rating refers to the installation. Two days later I'm still working on it. Some aspects were VERY disappointing. I first wired this winch from a 2000 Ford F250 power stroke starter battery to a diesel cab and a 7ft cab. bed by routing the positive cable at the rear as close under the truck as possible. The job is not pleasant, but everything seems to have gone well. But when I drove to the Zieman trailer, the 8…
