🚲 Dymoece Bicycle Wheel Fork Axle Front 15mm Thru Axle to 12mm Thru Axle Fork Adapter Review

Works great for its intended purpose and also serves as a great layout for axle mount roof racks that use a 12mm push-clamp for thru axles

There seems to be very few ways to adapt a thru-axle fork to the traditional quick release pivot mounts on my car roof rack. In combination with a 15 x 100mm thru axle adapter I can use my mid 90's Yakima Steelhead on my current car.

Basically it's one of those things that just works and gets 5 stars, or it's a total flop and gets 1. A little light lube and the adapter fits right into the new xt m8000 front hub. It was light enough that I could push it in with my palm, but firm enough that I needed a small stick to push it back in so gently. The skewer inserts without rattling, keeping the wheel exactly where it needs to be.

I bought this to convert a 15mm thru-axle wheel to a 12mm wheel for use on a new frame. While this adapter actually reduces the axle size from 15mm to 12mm, my wheel still wouldn't fit the new frame due to a few recessed radii on the inside of the fork legs interfering with the hub axle OD. I ended up spending more money and buying new DT Swiss hub end caps which should have both a smaller outside diameter and a smaller inside diameter.

While this adapter is great for adapting a 15mm wheel hub to a 12mm axle fork, it will not prevent the wheel from slipping slightly on your 15mm hub left and right slides is narrow adapter. On a bike with disc brakes, the disc braked wheel can move left or right in the caliper and rub against the brake pads. A full repair would involve a couple of small OD washers placed around this adapter to fill the gaps between the 15mm hub and the ends of the bike fork.
