Fits 2004 Honda CR-V

I had a 2004 Honda CR-V that needed a starter replacement. The dealer charged $300 for the part and another $300 for the labor. Unless you're used to doing your own mechanic's work, this wasn't the easiest replacement to run---Honda sort of figured out a way to hide it among various things. It's been a few weeks since the exchange and so far everything seems to be working. The price of this product seems a little suspicious, I thought it might not be the right car --- it wasn't, it really fits…

Great start, affordable price!

I bought this for our 2003 CRV because starting was a bit of a problem. After some research, I identified a bad starter as the problem. I read the reviews of this product and decided to give it a try and I'm happy to say I'm very happy with my decision. It starts right up every time and when combined with a new battery it starts like new. For those of you trying this procedure, I recommend attacking from above. I'm not a mechanic, but I'm mechanically inclined and I felt this was the best…

Top job on starters and alternators

2005 Honda CR-V Poor grip at times. After watching a few videos on the internet I was confident that I would replace it myself. The starter arrived within 2 business days. The method I used was the one that shows the work through the top of the engine, with a few differences. I have removed the front metal bracket and battery, disconnected the throttle body from the intake manifold and have NOT removed the antifreeze hoses from the throttle body. Leaving the hoses on the throttle body will…

Box says refurbished but looks brand new

I will update the review when some time has passed. The box says Remanufactured but it looks brand new. The original Mitsuba was bad when new. The dealer replaced it and the replacement has lasted 256,000 miles. Now, after so many years and kilometers, the cold mornings are slowly starting. Decided to order this one. Let's see how long it lasts, it starts faster than the Mitsuba. Replaced on top of CRV, one screw is stuck. Work for me 2.5 hours. Without the screw, 1.5 hours is no problem. I…

Bad quality control. The starter stopped working 5 days after installation.

The starter failed on the 5th day after installation. Unfortunately this was after the exchange period and it is not an easy task. I took the starter apart and one of the braided copper wires was frayed and was probably touching the commutator or interfering with the brush contact. There was also a loose piece of broken black plastic that could have caused problems. I trimmed the excess stranded wires and used a new brush assembly and plunger assembly to rebuild the OEM starter using the OEM…
