The starter failed on the 5th day after installation. Unfortunately this was after the exchange period and it is not an easy task. I took the starter apart and one of the braided copper wires was frayed and was probably touching the commutator or interfering with the brush contact. There was also a loose piece of broken black plastic that could have caused problems.
