Many Features Do Not Work, Terrible (Really Terrible) Tech Support

Purchased with three EWS360APs. Some features work great, others are completely broken. Guest Wi-Fi and captive portal will not work even after four firmware upgrades. If you need basic managed APs with no guest wi-fi, it is a reasonably priced solution that seems to work. Anything else is really just a gamble.Email-based tech support only. Average response time is about 5 days. They never read the question--after 3 weeks I think I've determined that they can't read English. They just skim the…

Pros
  • Switches
Cons
  • The switch may generate significant heat, requiring additional cooling measures to be implemented

Outstanding for creating a meshed network, hard to install

This is a really great product, you can create a very well functioning meshed (multi-access point) wifi network in your home in cases where one wifi access point does not provide sufficient coverage. HOWEVER, it is not easy to install, you may have to download firmware updates and you basically need a networking background to do all of the tasks to set it up. Compared to setting up a meshed multi-access AP wifi network using Cisco access points, its a bit easier than the Cisco gear, and much…

Pros
  • ‎EnGenius
Cons
  • The product's warranty period may be relatively short compared to other networking equipment, leaving businesses vulnerable to unexpected failures and disruptions

Great Switch for Home or Small Business

I was recently sent this model along with a EWS360AP Access Point for evaluation. I have been using a EnGenius EGS5110P for some time in my homelab and have been fairly happy with it for the limited use it has had. I have finally had some time to put the switch and AP through a little bit of torture testing and here are my thoughts. The GUI from EnGenius is effectively the same as it has been for years now. If you have seen it before you know exactly what are you are getting into. While I will…

Pros
  • I gave 3 stars for the ease of use only because technical knowledge is required to program the device.
Cons
  • The 8-port capacity of this switch is relatively small, limiting the number of devices that can be connected to it at once

Great product in my review

Great product. Easy to setup. Works with their access points to manage them from a central location. Can power approximately 4 access points.

Pros
  • Electronics
Cons
  • The product's user interface may be difficult to navigate for those unfamiliar with network management

EnGenius EWS - my new review

So I've been using the EnGenius EWS5912FP switch and the EWS310AP access point for a while now. The set-up was incredibly easy. I initially used the console cable to change the IP address but later found that I could have used the default IP address of 192.168.0.239. Having the switch function and AP controller in one unit is very convenient. So far it works great and I have not had any problems connecting. Band steering to the 5GHz network works very well and has reduced our interference…

Pros
  • Easy to install
Cons
  • The 130W power budget may be insufficient for businesses with high power demands, requiring the purchase of additional switches or power supplies

Great managed switch for home network!

I picked up this switch for my home network, which utilizes five Engenius access points (also using Pfsense for my router). The switch works great for managing the APs. Updates and configuration changes are effortless.I've seen other reviews that complain about lack of documentation, but there are some good YouTube videos that dig into the functionality of the Engenius managed on premise switches. I'm not an IT person, but was able to get my network working with multiple VLANs, access my…

Pros
  • Works great
Cons
  • The EnGenius EWS5912FP is a relatively expensive Ethernet switch, making it less budget-friendly compared to other options on the market

Best one for the money.

This is a perfect network managed switch. The best thing I like about this switch is the POe, it allows we to run all my devices without having extra power cables all over. I am able to fully control and monitor activity. Simple yet effective. I didn't experience any network drops, lag, or random restarts. Throughput remained the same. Set up is straight forward. Engenius once again creating a great product with a excellent price. I highly recommend this.

Pros
  • It's easy and works well.
Cons
  • The product's remote monitoring capabilities may be limited, providing limited visibility into network activity

The switch seems to work OK, still working on vlans. The AP controller, however, is a real problem and there are compatibility issues between different versions of the controller and access points. At the moment, my Engenius 1300 access point won't show in the list of access points, but shows in the maintenance and troubleshooting section. And this controller has "taken over", so I can't manage the AP directly through it's interface. We're up to about 5 times where I've had to restore either one

Pros
  • fast shipping and a great product
Cons
  • The limited number of SFP and uplink ports may create bottlenecks in larger networks, reducing performance and causing connectivity issues

Love it for what it is.but a bit spendy

Love it.10 port (8 + 2 sfp slots) switch with other managable features. Can'tspeak to the wireless controller bit because I don't use it.but the PoE and other features were so perfect for my needs I bought a 3rd one. Best part is it only takes 8w of power (plus anything you poe) good for keeping your over night power low.

Pros
  • good
Cons
  • The switch lacks advanced security features like access control lists (ACLs) and MAC address filtering, potentially leaving networks vulnerable to unauthorized access

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Does the Job if programmed properly.

Initially, found it hard as less tutorials available on web. Best for Hospitality business when combined with proper AP's.

Pros
  • ‎Black
Cons
  • The switch may experience compatibility issues with certain network devices, resulting in connectivity problems or requiring additional configuration

EnGenius is best known for it's access points and rightfully so. Now, it is making a stab into the switched controller market and I like what I see. To be transparent, EnGenius sent me a review unit of the EWS5912FP as well as an EWS310AP (access point.) From the packaging to the details of the web administration interface, EnGenius didn't miss a thing. I was impressed with the build quality of the switch upon removing it from the box. Set-up was quite easy and with a few clicks, I had the IP…

Pros
  • easy to setup up and manage your access points
Cons
  • The switch lacks advanced features like VLANs or Quality of Service options, limiting its functionality in larger networks
