Oh my god, that makes the dirty work easier! I have memories of making valves when I was younger and valve springs and retainers jumping all over the room. This made the job so easy that after installing the new seals I actually put the retainers back on a valve with the safety straw on the valve stem. It's just as easy to take apart and pull out again. Just apply plenty of lube to everything to avoid contaminating the threads.

The idea of the product is great but the execution let us down due to inferior metal. The metal basically started breaking and hit the head! Good thing they weren't in the car, so I can get them out. This worked great for my needs. I was using the wrong style of claws, that is, until I saw a YouTube video about Pac Springs. They pointed out that the claw style could damage the feathers. So I figured I might as well order this guy as suggested. It worked well overall, but I found it a bit difficult to do two springs at once to work with the detents.
