🌿 Enhance Your Terrarium with Exo Terra Compact Top Canopy for PT2613 - 90 cm Review

This looks great in a terrarium with my snake, I just wish they could turn completely on their side but it doesn't. Even if it is turned off at night, the terrarium loses a lot of heat and it is a little big and bulky to put away completely to put towels on the screen.

We use light for the top of our Russian turtle terrarium Baggins. We've had one before and liked that it fits on top without showing the bulbs. Our terrarium opens at the front, so there is no problem there. Our cat likes to lie on it to keep warm.

This only gets 4 stars partly because this is an old listing on Revain and you're not getting the PT2613 but the new model PT2228 which still serves my purpose but . 25 watts max, not 40 watts, so I have spare bulbs that don't do me any good at the moment; and the cost of returning is the price i paid so i have no reason to do that

I have been loyal to the Exo Terra brand in the four years that I have been a reptile owner, they tend to make reliable products that do not fade. It's no different. I was amazed at how much lighter my bearded dragon cage got when I switched from three to four lights and of course the grooves at the top of the canopy are great for storing a thermometer/hygrometer. I recommend this to anyone with a three foot or longer cage.

My 40 gallon aquarium for my bearded dragon used to only have a UV lamp that I held over his back and two additional heat lamps to keep his tank warm. I'm so glad I found this canopy because it's perfect for the aquarium and I was able to install a UV lamp on each side of the canopy to cover the entire tank and two low wattage heat lamps to keep the temperature up (because it gets warm in the south where we live, and the AC has cooled his tank to keep it warm). I'll add it once I've used it for a while but first impressions are disappointing. Why on earth do I need a device for my reptile that has two switches without two separate wires? . Why do I need two separate cables you ask? So I can connect two separate switches to two separate timers and use this light for night and daylight or for high and low heat. Oh! I use this canopy for lighting with an Exo Terra Large Wide (PT2613) terrarium. It fits perfectly and looks like it came with the terrarium. Interestingly, I found that the two switches on the side don't turn off the left and right sides of the light, they turn off the first and third and second and fourth bulbs respectively. The question arises as to which bulb you should buy, as there is a limit of 25 or 26 watts. At the moment I'm using Exo Terra bulbs, a Sun Glo 25w on the other end, a CFL UVB 26w on the other and a CFL UVA 26w on the other. Room temperature is 75 degrees, tank temperature is 77.5 degrees on the non-light end and 83 degrees on the hot end as measured with a probe near the heating point about 4 inches below the light. update; Man I'm really disappointed in this thing. Even a new fixture with new bulbs of the right wattage will break much quicker than I expected something this expensive to fail. It's been less than a year. The plastic pieces holding the ceramic base of the bulbs all shatter, which feels dangerous and causes the bulbs to detach and go out.
