This gate is pretty flimsy but it doesn't bother me as much as the fact that there are NO fasteners in the kit. The description said it was included but when I contacted the company they said it wasn't supposed to be included. Makes the gate useless to me. I will probably return it.

I needed a grid to keep dogs out of my laundry but let cats through. These goals are perfect. Other reviewers criticized the design of the gates and latches. My gate came with an updated locking system and is strong and light weight. I'm not trying to stop the big weight, I'm building a barrier that will stop the average dog. The pilot holes for the hinges were a little off center, but since I screw everything off center it was perfect for me. I am very happy with my new gate!

The gate comes with swimming pool quality Phillips head screws. One of the included screws had no slot in the head [just a round head]. Another screw's head broke off when trying to screw it into a pre-drilled pilot hole, requiring several new holes to be drilled. The latch sometimes deforms and binds the latch bracket [freshly installed today, less than 10 latches/unlatches so far] . The wooden accordion has a distinctive "potato chip" curve, so a heavy object is needed to hold the bottom…

Overall I was disappointed with the quality of this gate. The highlight were the deformed bamboo slats. When the gate was destroyed it appeared to be straight and steep. But when it was extended through the 40 inch opening, the gate was so twisted that when hooked at the top, the bottom stuck out almost 4 inches. It looked awful and small dogs could even slip through the hole. I was also dissatisfied with the equipment. The hinges were so small and poorly made that I can't imagine them holding…

This is an old fashioned accordion style wooden (actually probably bamboo) gate and is exactly what I wanted and needed, but it is NOT a gate for everyone. This is a good gate to prevent an animal from going through a door without permission, but it will not deter a violent or determined dog. The holes are large enough for a cat or small dog to fit through, and large enough for a large dog's head (or a small child's head) to slip through, bend and crush, pinch, or get stuck.
