Great little cleaver but smaller than I expected

I don't know that I would actually call this knife a cleaver--at least it's not the size I associate with that word. When this arrived I was initially surprised by the small box and put off by the size of the knife which is quite a bit smaller than the other two cleavers I own. I took some pictures to try and provide an accurate sense of scale. But since I am not a skilled cook the smaller size of this cleaver ended up working in its favor. I find it way easier to use than my full-sized cleavers

Pros
  • Kitchen Knives & Accessories
Cons
  • Blade may chip or break if used improperly

Does what it’s supposed to do very well

This is not just well built and properly functioning but it is a beautiful knife. Kind of a small handle but is held together mechanically and has a full tang. The finger hole helps with accuracy/control. The only thing that makes me a little weary is this the spine is not very thick and considering it’s size it seems like it should be heavier. But it does it’s job so far without major damage.

Pros
  • Ultra-Sharp Edge - This blade of this professional santoku knife is 8 inch, 2.36 inch width and thickness is only 2.5MM, made by traditional Chinese hand-forged craftsmanship which makes the knives extremely hard, brings the knife a sharp edge and can maintain its edge for life time. Its hand-polished edge is 15-18 degrees per side, which is sturdy and sharp to get the job done perfectly.
Cons
  • Length of the blade may make it difficult to maneuver in tight spaces

sharp and nice looking but design print comes off into my food!

this is a good size kitchen chef knife. it is a couple of inches longer than my iphone as seen in the attached photo. it felt good in my slicing hand as i pinch its bolster and started slicing some vegetables. this knife is sharp as it came in and passed the "slicing of the paper” test - cleanly slices a piece of paper while holding that paper with my other hand.however, when i used it to slice a slab of mozzarella cheese; the ‘ink’ on the dragon design on top section of the knife appears to…

Pros
  • Feels great and cuts everything like its room temperature butter
Cons
  • No what I was expecting, very heavy and not comfortable.

Cool knife. but Rusted!

Knife was rusted when received, the same as most of these pics from other customers. Luckily, my stepdad happens to make knives himself so he was able to get the rust out. Looks like it will do well enough in the kitchen and hopefully hand washing it won't bring back any rust. I personally would look elsewhere. not an overly expensive knife but shouldn't be receiving it rusted regardless of the price.

very sharp vegetable knife

i like the design/look of this nikiri vegetable knife. i have an authentic chinese clever knife i bought at the bay area chinatown and use it regularly in chopping vegetables. this one is about half the height of that which feels like the japanese nikiri knife.this knife came in razor sharp which went through the paper test and passed with flying colors. i like the squarish design at the top of the knife and the brass like cover at the bolster felt good in mu hand when i pinch down on it.this…

Pros
  • Black
Cons
  • Knife blade may become dull quickly

Seems best fit for only certain types of cut

A good knife depending on the use. The handle is comfortable, and it has a good flow when cutting, however due to the majority of the size being in the handle, the blade is underwhelming. I can say this would work well when operating with things such as lamb chops or small portions such as filet mignon. I personally did not find it comfortable when cutting veggies, and in face found it out of place when adjusting my hand position to more naturally find my flow when chopping.

Pros
  • Plain
Cons
  • Pear wood handle may not be vegan-friendly

SHARP and oh so stylish. in a Dragon Slayer kind of way

Bring a little "How to Train your Dragon" to your next side of beef. The hammered look of this blade, along with its wide, sharp edge, will make you feel like you just came from a Renaissance Festival. The weight is substantial and it's pretty well balanced. The edge is EXTREMELY sharp. Sharp enough that my wife didn't want it out above our counter on our display magnetic bar. It is definitely for someone who knows what they are doing with a cleaver. For the money, this is an outstanding value…

Pros
  • I love this knife. It is so beautiful that I don't want to use it.
Cons
  • Expensive compared to other knives on the market

Incredible in my review

Shipped quickly in a nondescript box w Asian characters. (I don’t want to assume they’re Japanese as I don’t know the language, but it is in the item description, but the label says "made in China) The blade was covered simply with a stapled piece of cardboard. But, the knife is a beauty. After a thorough scrubbing, I set out to test this baby on a massive beef tenderloin. I watched in glide through this hunk of beef in awe. 10 steaks and a smaller chateaubriand less than a min later. No force…

Holy sharp Batman! - my new review

This guy is tremendously sharp. Cuts through just about anything. I’m glad this product wasn’t available to Jeffry Dahmer! It makes quick work of hard veggies like carrots and squash. It separates bone easily. It’s very versatile. Only grievance is I with the handle was maybe a half an inch longer. I’ve got big meat paws. But it’s a fantastic knife. Clean and dry after every use. (Like any quality knife) NO DISHWASHER!

Pros
  • Boning Knives
Cons
  • May require special sharpening tools or techniques

This cleaver is nice, artistic in its craftsmanship and has metal that goes all the way into the handle for a very sturdy knife. It is ornamental so it works for serving as well as cutting. This is not an everyday knife and I oil the handle each time I use it after I wash it. It is not meant for cutting bone, it chops through meat, i have not tried to chop bone yet and will not do that as I respect the knife too much. This is a very nice, very shapr and very shiny cleaver and it is great to have

Pros
  • 7.7 ounces

GREAT STEEL - easy to Strop to touch up and SHARP AS HECK

AMAZING Value! I STRONGLY recommend you get a strop and touch up the factory blade - SHARP out of the box but like a razor after stropping. If you keep up with te strop you'll minimize needing to retouch the blade with a stone.AMAZINGLY SHARP knife and the up=swept front bull-nose is one heck of a tool for removing fascia and thin layered fat from meet. A DREAM on fish when skinning out salmon. ALL AROUND FANTASTIC meat knife.I would not use as a Cleaver as the blade to me is too thin for…

Sharp, durable, slices vegetables and sushi perfectly

This knife is durable and holds is sharp blade well. The handle is real wood and should be maintained oiled. The blade should be wiped dry and oiled as well.I am using this knife set with my other sushi making supplies and storing in my hingiri which adds a little more protection from getting banged up in some drawer or wood block. The knife works well in avocado, salmon, tuna, cucumber, ginger, eel, and the finished sushi rolls.I believe this knife and it’s companion knives can be used for…

Pros
  • The handmade craftsmanship of the LongQuan Santoku knife ensures the ultimate precision when slicing, dicing, and chopping.
Cons
  • Packaging may be excessive or wasteful

Gorgeous knife! - my new review

My other half is a sous chef and his working knives are usually if the pretty expensive kind, and he has been known to make his own too. Any knife that passes his test is in my opinion a good knife - and he loves this one! It’s gorgeous, well made, easy to use, and also cuts properly (obviously the most important part). He uses this at work and has had some compliments about it too - so I would say this is a really decent knife, at a good price, and can be used in a professional setting with no

Extremely sharp and quality product

To cut veggies or meat I prefer a butcher knife that could easily cut through it. My carrot julienne pieces came out very well. Yet to try on meat. I need a proper size handle to hold it firmly and this has it. The handle is very beautiful.

Pros
  • The full tang pear wood handle provides a comfortable grip and excellent balance, making it perfect for use in both home kitchens and professional restaurants.
Cons
  • May not be suitable for those with allergies to certain materials, such as wood

Great Knife for Root Vegetables and Meat

This is a high-quality cleaver and extremely sharp. The handle and blade are both crafted very well and are very attractive. It fits in large hands like a glove. It easily cuts through root vegetables or tough meat. It's also very easy to clean and sharpen. The finger hole really helps you control the knife and handle it well. This would make a nice gift for anyone who spends a lot of time in the kitchen. Great price too. Would buy again.

Pros
  • Home & Kitchen
Cons
  • May require additional maintenance, such as oiling the handle

Love this knife.: my feedback

Its very well made. It’s not as heavy and bulky like your conventional cleaver. It’s easy to maneuver and sharp out of the box. It was 50% off when I got it and received it in a timely manner. Overall satisfied with the purchase. I will get another one soon.

  • 8 Inches
Cons
  • Not dishwasher safe – must be hand washed and dried
