Eliminates an oil leak for spare parts

Fel-pro. The pads are the best. I have been using this brand for 30 years and they have never let me down. This seal is very difficult to access without an elevator, but I managed it. It took a long time to remove the spring clips on the oil filter housing coolant hoses. Fixed my leak!

Pros
  • Brings joy
Cons
  • Some bugs

Painful to replace, but we'll be worth doing alone!

For those who have a milkshake from a jug of coolant on a Ford 5.4 engine. In 90% of cases the reason lies in this seal. For the price and quality this is the best buy out there. Replacing it is a pain, but doable if you're at all mechanically inclined.

Fits perfectly no more leaks

I bought this gasket to fix an oil leak on a 2002 Ford Explorer with a 4.6 liter V8 engine. This seems to be a common problem with the 4.6 liter engines used in many Ford and Lincoln/Mercury products since 1998. Accessing the oil filter bracket was tricky but jacking up the front of the car and pulling on the left front, tire and inner fender gives access to the 4 mounting bolts. First, drain the coolant and remove the oil filter.

Preventive maintenance.

I ordered this for my 2006 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. The Police model is equipped with a powerful engine oil cooler to maintain the correct oil temperature in harsh environments such as long idle periods, hot weather, towing and high-speed chases. There is a gasket just behind the oil filter housing, here it is. They love to leak for so many years, so it's wise to have them on hand when that horrible drip happens, and now you're ready!

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • No

Questionable quality control

I received this gasket and noticed a small gap on the coolant side before installing it on my F150. I figured it should be designed that way for some reason and install it anyway. As you might guess, the gasket was leaking and I had to put another gasket back in. The seller was kind enough to refund my money, but I ended up having to buy another 6 quarts of oil, an oil filter and 6 gallons of coolant. I decided to order another one (for $9 why not?) just to see if the first pad wasn't randomโ€ฆ

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not satisfied

Worked like a champ

The seal has been working great with no leaks for several months now. I'm very handy with cars, I still watched a few youtubes on replacing this gasket and figured it must have been pretty easy. It's a pain in the butt to change. Good for a day job in your home garage (or driveway if you prefer). Don't forget that you will be draining the oil and coolant, so make sure they're ready to go when you put everything back together (oil filter too). it is together I did this on a 2005 Ford Crownโ€ฆ

Easy but tricky installation - depends on your vehicle

1. If you have an oil leak and can't find the exact spot but it seems to be dripping from the oil filter. Do yourself a favor, secure your car on stands, climb up there with a towel and bright lights. Wipe off any oil where you can see it, around the filter and on the sides of the oil filter adapter. If you have someone have them start the engine and keep watching, if you see oil running down the side of the adapter then that's probably your problem. You need this gasket to fix the problem.2โ€ฆ

The installation didn't go too bad. Coolant drain

Perfect for my 03 Explorer 4.6 4WD. The installation didn't go too bad. Drain coolant. Remove the 4 clips holding the airflow guide under the heatsink to make room. Remove the oil filter and oil filter drain pan. Disconnect the oil pressure sensor. Change your oil while you're there. Using some simple tools, remove the 4 screws holding it in place. No long extensions are required. As far as I remember, only extension cords are 3 and 6 inches long. The gasket looked almost identical to theโ€ฆ
