Bicycle spoke emergency kit

Essential for the cyclist. The idea is to never use a FiberFix needle replacement kit, but when you need it, you need it. Compact, easy to transport and easy to use, it should be in your saddlebag along with a spare hose and tool kit. I've used this kit many times over the years for quick road repairs and at times I've driven hundreds of miles before changing a spoke. Warning: Don't let the guy at the bike shop cut the cable with scissors. Yes, I know this should be obvious, but.

Pros
  • Robust design
Cons
  • Good, but not the best

Clever Tool on Cycling

This is an ingenious device, light, compact, strong, efficient and easy to use, even behind the freewheel. Oh, and it's reusable! I do long-distance day trips from where I live and long-distance tours to remote regions, so I carry one of these in my basic toolbox and three more in my extended "tourist toolbox". That's better than having real spokes somewhere on the wheel that might be cut to the wrong length and can't be installed behind the hub without special tools, in my opinion. Thisโ€ฆ

An absolute must-have for long tours.

This thing has helped me a number of times. Waaaah easier than filming a roadside tape. I give them to every beginner I meet and have to buy new ones myself. This thing weighs less than a few coins, packs down to the size of your pinky, and can save you hours of work. Before that, I often hitchhiked (on my bike) to the nearest bike shop with a cassette removal tool. No longer! Great for a quick fix either until you finish your day and install a real spoke or find a snap ring remover and chainโ€ฆ

You may never need it, but if you do, you'll be glad you have it!

Too bad I didn't get it a week earlier! But that is life. :) However, I tried it on an old spare tire and the FibreFix spoke definitely worked. It is very durable and I was able to easily fix the wheel with it. It's probably stronger than a lot of spokes out there. There are a few videos on YouTube demonstrating its use, as well as a few other reviews. The only recommendations I can give are the following: It can fail. 2) With FibreFix, carry a piece of wire (a piece of old spoke) bent at oneโ€ฆ

It's good to know that you have something to fix a broken spoke.

I haven't used it, thank goodness! but I know of others who rave about it. It takes up minimal pocket space but is good insurance in the event of a spoke failure. I am a touring cyclist and losing a spoke can be frustrating and many modern road bikes can only have 14 spokes and one of them gets in the way and because it takes up so little space there really is no reason not to carry it around. Easy to use but I'd suggest you watch some YouTube videos to see how it's used. It's a lot easier toโ€ฆ
