Functional but poor quality.

Very cheap and flimsy. Repair the broken base when adjusting the mirror. The price is close to OEM, really not worth skimping on.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Modern

Is that from England?

The passenger side mirror was actually the driver side mirror. By the time I opened it up to install it was out of return time and I now have 2 driver side mirrors and another broken passenger mirror.

Cons

Wrong side ordered

We have ordered this item twice and both times we got a window on the driver's side instead of the passenger side. The sticker on the box points to the passenger side, so there is a problem with the lettering. We are working on a return in the hope of eventually getting the correct part.

Pros
  • Handsfree
Cons
  • boring packaging

Won't snap after adjustment

The mirror is terrible. It doesn't stay where it fits. Tried setting it where I wanted it, took it off, tightened the adjustment screw all the way, put it back on and it still moved from the first ride with it.

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • Some cons

Great price for original replacement, easy to fix flop.

Replaced stock passenger mirror on a Westy 82, still had hanging mirror syndrome. This was fixed with a lock washer and a copper washer from Ace Hardware. He loads the mirror and blocks it without moving at 65 miles per hour.

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Bodywork Makeshift

This is a cheap solution if that's what you need. But it's light, plasticky and vibrates as you drive (considering the Vanagon isn't the smoothest of rides), you get vibration and distortion through the mirror. I plan to replace it with a more permanent solution in the future, but for now it works.

Pros
  • Easy Install
Cons
  • Expensive

Good article at a good price

This is an exact OEM style replacement part for the left (driver) side of VW Vanagons. It seems well made and it's cheaper here than at the dealer. This article's photo shows it in the correct position, sized vertically instead of horizontally. The mounting bracket attaches to the door with two Phillips screws. The rubber/plastic gasket that runs between the mirror mount and the metal of the door is not included. If necessary, they can be purchased from VW dealers. There is a tension adjustment

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Guard
