Results may vary by tool

I purchased this item in the hope that it would help control the speed of my Dremel 4300 rotary tool Tool has its own speed controller. I tried setting the tool to both max power and medium power and in both cases the Dremel 4300 did not behave as expected. Instead, the foot pedal basically works like an ON/OFF switch for the Dremel 4300, no matter how hard or light I press the pedal. On the other hand, I have a WEN 2305 (also with its own speed controller) that allows the foot pedal to control

Pros
  • Footswitch
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

I bought this as a control for a hair dryer to be used as an alcohol ink art tool. The dryer's amperage would be too high for that if I was using it on high heat, but it's great on low heat or cold - giving me fine control over how hard the air is blowing onto the paper. It may seem a bit stiffer than sewing machine foot pedals, but I think it still fits a man's foot. This solves a problem that manufacturers of heat guns and embossing tools do not solve. I wonder what other uses I could find…

Pros
  • Industrial switch
Cons
  • Some little things

Very limited range for Industrial Electrical

I had high hopes that this would actually work. I plugged in my Dremel tool and had to push the pedal almost all the way down before the Dremel would start. I was expecting it to start the tool and gradually increase speed throughout the pedal stroke, but it didn't. He went from low speed to high speed with just a few millimeters of pedal movement. When I held the pedal in my hands, I could hardly elicit intermediate speeds from the instrument. Update: I picked up a single speed Dremel tool…
