🔧 Forney 55674 Welding Helmet Headgear Replacement with Ratchet-Type Mechanism Review

Pretty terrible. The sides don't pull tight enough to keep the helmet upright when not welding. I had to use Gorril tape to stick it on. Shouldn't have done that. However, it works and for the price you can get it working. But I would like to know how bad the side tensioners are. I would pay more for better equipment.

I bought this because my native hat was hanging out on the side so the hood kept falling on my face. For that minor annoyance, I replaced it with this one. A small spring loaded piece on the back somehow came loose in the middle of the weld and my hood fell off. Did I mention this happened the week I bought it? Cheap cheap hood repair I guess.

This replacement headgear transformed an old welding helmet I used to hold while welding into a nice, comfortable helmet. Installation took about 15 minutes (including removing old parts from the helmet). I have an old helmet that I want to install another one in. I have a new helmet which I use most of the time but of course it's nice to have a spare helmet - it works. The ratchet closure that allows for size adjustment has a small screw that holds the gears together inside. It's a tiny little thing and unfortunately after about a week of use I popped out the screw and lost it. I only knew because I felt his nut hit the back of my shirt. I hastily wrapped wire to hold the pieces together, so I'm still using this product, but yeah. This part should have been fixed a little better. Definitely!
