My last router was an old chicken in terms of usability and reliability. My TV has a lot of router noise right where I wanted to plug my ChromeCast. Now, on most other devices, I could just plug in an ethernet and be done with it, but ChromeCast doesn't support an ethernet connection. So I took that and put it right behind the TV to amplify the signal. Just so you don't make the same mistake I did. Selecting Modem->Switch->Router will work for most devices, but for ChromeCast you must select Modem->Router->Switch. ChromeCast is very picky in this regard.

Wow, how easy it is. I need an extender (which creates a separate Wi-Fi network by connecting to an existing Wi-Fi) to extend Wi-Fi coverage from my house to my separate garage and yard. Although I have a really nice Asus RT-N66U that I love, it just isn't enough to get into my garage through at least 2 stucco walls and 4 brick walls (but I can get a signal over 100 meters in other directions).
