Works great! A strong magnet keeps it in place. Wherever you want. I had no idea magnets could be that strong (for tanks). i am newbie Either way, you can place it anywhere. When the rays are not aimed at the surface, it is generally silent. I like hearing it, so I aimed it at the surface. Sometimes I lower it while feeding the fish. Holding it up will scatter the food around the tank. This is useful when you have a small fish trying to eat and a bully in the tank (who would eat anything!) 🐠😂

As a long time Hydor Power Head user and with no complaints I figured for the money and a gph 1600 rating I'd give it a try. When it arrived I was shocked, compared to the Hydror it was a lot smaller so after giving it a try I filled the kitchen sink and gave it a try. Of course the output flow wasn't what I compared to my smaller hydror which is rated at 1100 GPH. I was able to sell the head to a guy down the street who had an FW tank and get the money back for what I know a Hydor Korillia is.

I bought this for my rainbow aquarium which is in the early stages of development. It is very powerful, I have a standard sized 75 gallon tank. The blue color isn't perfect but I think it works in my blue background tank and shouldn't be as noticeable once my plants are grown. I installed two 8 watt dual heads in a 110 x tall aquarium to remove dead spots. they work great! one at each end, one high and one low, I dropped the cichlid scales in the aquarium to watch the flow and they swelled all over the place and ended up in the sand to the left, so I either drop one on point in the dead zone , or I'll just take another double head that will fix it too.
