If you have an uneven dado, read this!

Like other people, I received non-flat dado and vinyl products. If you are having this problem try flipping the blades and if the uneven pitch stays the same then the problem is with your shaft rotating the blades. The upper thread ends, and in front of the processed flat part there is a gap along which the single knife moves. Some people have said to fill that gap with duct tape or aluminum tape, but I found the best solution was to fill it with JB Weld and then sand it smooth. Got FLAT Dados…

Can we give it 6 stars?

Can we give it 6 stars? Seriously, this is the best 1/4 and 3/8 box knife on the market. People who rip should skip a step or do a cross cut instead of ripping the wood. We are very happy! And we didn't have a fancy saw, we used a regular cheap Ryobi portable table saw with an extendable table to hold the wood. We didn't even have to buy or make a new blade guard. The saw spins this blade with ease and cuts like butter. Oh, and we've already made about 50 boxes. There's 50 left, but it's pretty

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Has been damaged

Great addition to my small work saw

I bought this for my Dewalt DWE7480 table saw to do dados. I bought the saw knowing it didn't require slot sets and figured I could just use back-to-back cuts with a regular saw blade as a workaround, but I couldn't find an affordable flat-bottomed saw blade. This box cutter set is similarly priced to the saw blades I was looking at and fits my saw perfectly, even fitting in a regular throat plate when set for a 3/8 inch cut. Works very well, makes clean cuts. and wider dados don't take much…

  • New
Cons
  • Almost everything is fine

Turns my Dewalt DW745 into a boxing machine!

Turns my Dewalt DW745 into a cabinet maker! This is the only dado kit I'm aware of that works on the DW745. Make very precise and even cuts of 1/4" or 3/8", nothing in between. My homemade box splicer sucks, but after hours of tweaking the dam template (not Dado's fault) this cutter made great cuts and I made my first box. Now I have to buy a professionally made metal box clamp, or I'll just make firewood. I wish they had made this one, 3/4" wide but just as narrow (to fit my short arbor. Um!).

Pros
  • Durable Test Results
Cons
  • Replacement Availability

Amazing box joint blades!

I bought these blades after trying to make box jointed blades with Homer Depot's Avanti Dado blade set. These blades chopped the wood and cut out a curved bottom, making it impossible to make a straight seam. Enter these blades of Freud. These blades are perfection! They are razor sharp and make perfect cuts. The sides are straight and have no gaps. The bottom of the cut is completely flat. It doesn't get any better than this, no matter how much you spend on a set of blades. I will be using…

Almost perfect - still not very good in the 2nd movement.

Update - have spare blades and no broken teeth. Looks good . but one side shoots more than the other. I've tried 1/4" and 3/8" and got the same results. I thought it was my table saw until I measured the caliper holes with a caliper - one shows 0.62, the other 0.6185. So I have to line them up exactly in the middle and tighten the nuts, otherwise the slightest difference will result in each cut being different. The price is really good but IB should return it. I think I will use a router to…

  • Decent performance

  • Crumpled packaging

My rating is based on a DEWALT DWE7480

I have used these on my DEWALT DWE7480 table saw although Dewalt does not recommend saw blades of any type. Once this blade is placed on the mandrel, the nut barely fits into the final threads on the mandrel. As for me, I was sure it was tight enough and haven't had any problems so far. If you decide to use it on your DEWALT DWE7480, simply make sure it is securely attached to the stock and test it on a piece of wood first. It fits the stitch plate that comes with the Dewalt saw on the 1/4…

  • Durable Finish
Cons
  • Frequency

A bit cumbersome and not ideal, but I'll work with it.

The concept is good and perhaps the biggest problem is the table saw I tried it on. The shoulder of the blade shaft is too short to support both blades, so one of the blades is over a thread slightly smaller than the 5/8 inch shoulder diameter. So the blades are not perfectly aligned. Because the outer sheet has undue play and the slot is slightly stepped as a result. For what I plan to use I think I can still get it to work, but I don't expect PERFECT articulated fingers. I'll use it and maybe
