Nice for the price. not a bird, but not a dog either.

This is an intelligent speed sensor for field tuning. As others have pointed out, the numbers aren't accurate, but you can see if you're trimming correctly. nice piece of field kit for 2m/440 The added connectors and mini dummy load was a nice bonus.

Finally one that works!

Type sarcasm. Finally a working counter. It actually measures power and SWR as advertised. What a concept. Tired of buying junk that needs to be fixed before it can be used? What is that? New products should be out of the box, and this one does. Hooray! I'm excited! I would recommend this gauge. It is very small and can easily be put in a travel bag or something else. Also includes a dummy load and various adapters to get you started right away. This meter accurately measures power and SWR and…

Costs money. in Portable Audio & Video

I've only used it 25 or 30 times but the readings seem stable and reliable. I compared it to the Bird 43 at 145 and 433MHz at 5 watts and the difference was negligible. I actually bought this to test handheld radio antennas, but when I connect it to a radio, the antenna sometimes gives questionable readings. Now we could talk about this type of testing for a few days but this is exactly the setup I was looking for and I just don't have confidence in the readings with this setup. I have to say I

This is amazing stuff! 100% recommended!

Rugged aluminum body feels. His knob is crisp. It comes with adapters. It works great and I was able to test all my antennas (there are 12-14 of them) and it was really great to see how good some of them (homemade) are at SWR. Two days later I retested all the antennas and got exactly the same SWR readings so the repeatability is correct. It doesn't work with digital modes (like pi-star/dmr etc) as they are "on-off" modes meaning it can't get good readings but you can plug the antenna on…

Pros
  • Rugged finish
Cons
  • Not sure

I have an expensive SWR power meter that works fine. I then bought this item for shipping reasons. After testing several HT radios I found this model better than my flow meter! My other counter has a typical display. This item is digital which ensures accurate measurements! No guessing about power like meters with an arrow. Well made and with all the necessary adapters for HT handheld radios. Supplied with connectors for BNC, SMA male and female antennas. Bought a 2nd for storage as I buy good…

New Ham Techs should get this

Ideal for new Ham Tech licensees. "Perfect is the enemy of good enough." This is perfect for a new ham to check antenna and cable installation; especially SWR. Maximum accuracy at the frequencies specified in the instructions. This is not a laboratory device, but for SWR it is accurate enough in all ranges for all practical purposes. I don't think it's good to measure power above 5W. Don't even think about using the supplied dummy load over 5W because you have to smoke it and do short tests…

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other picks

Sounds good. in CB and talkback radios

Easy to use on HT. I'll have to test how accurate it is in a few days when I get cables for another SWR/power meter (MFJ 842). From what I've read it's difficult to get consistent SWR test results because there are so many factors at play. for example how you hold the HT and how close/where it is in relation to your body. In any case, it is good to know if the antenna is damaged or if your radio is not delivering enough power. Have this as a portable as it is so small and as a backup for my…

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Upgradeable

Longtime ham radio operator now in GMRS and MURS so I needed an SWR/Power meter for my portables (Baofeng, B-Tech, Radioddity, Midland etc) and it had a good reputation with my New Friends at GMRS . I heard they used to be around $35 so the new price of $47 is way over the top. The competition isn't that big, so here it is. I've had mine for a week with lots of testing so I'm happy so far. In doing so I discovered that my 2.5 month old Nagoya "Stubby" "Authentic" Genuine Nagoya NA-810 2.5" is…
